What's troubling is that John Tory didn't announce his decision tonight.
With the leadership question foremost in the minds of the attending delegates as well as himself, Tory should have thought through the possible outcomes before the convention and been prepared to announce his decision at the convention.
Now the delegates will go home frustrated and anxious.
Tory's lack of preparation and decisiveness does not reflect well on his leadership skills.
Didn't Joe Clark decide to resign the night of his leadership vote?
Paul Martin resigned the night he lost the 2006 election.
Even those two weak leaders were prepared in advance.

Obviously, I'm a very cynical conservative wannabe pundit. I think Tory didn't resign tonight because he has not one intention of doing so, but will slither as required to hand in there. In that regard, my respect has gone up for Mr. Clark and the also mentioned Paul Martin. (real conservative)
It should be obvious why Jason thinks Tory deserves another chance...because Uncle Warren's happy and when Uncle Warren's happy it means trouble for Tory.

What he said during his speech before the vote to justify his cling to power is revealing:
"But our own history, and that of the other parties, shows that switching leaders after a defeat isn't the path to victory."
