Only non-humans are against Family Day

Dalton shrugs off business owners' concerns:

"It turns out the only people who are in favour of family day are the people," he said. "There will be at least four million Ontarians who have never enjoyed Family Fay before who will enjoy it this (Feb. 18)."

That means there will be a lot of non-humans working this Feb. 18 in Ontario.

Sunday Update: Christina Blizzard - February's blah day:

...So, the good news for some of you is you get Feb. 18 off work. The bad news is if you're out of work, you get to spend every day at home...

my husband's employer is not giving them Family Day off.

Too bad for my family, eh Dalton?

So are you in favour of Family Day, or are you a non-person?

Why not just take the day off? Even if you take it without pay, you are getting paid an extra day this month anyway. On February 29th, right?

That's why they brought it in during a leap year, since many people are under contracts that would not have it built in yet.

Well let's see Joanne.

Dalton must think I'm a non-person, but most recently I think I, and many others in our country were referred to as "fossils". So if you're a federal or provincial liberal I guess I'm a non-person. Fine by me...where can I get a refund on my "I will not raise your taxes" contributions seeing as though I don't exist.

good idea ls, but while I have a really nice family we're not in any great hurry to DO any family stuff at the moment. Just finished all that stuff at Christmas, and Easter's in March. We don't need it thanks very much.

So, I'll just spend it like any other day. It's also no biggy for my teenager who has just had several snow days and really wants to get to school to start the next semester.

I have heard that the gov't quietly decreased the number of teaching days for the teacher unions so that they could wiggle the day off. Only a one year deal though.

I wonder if the gov't will now peel back one of the PA days they added?

Yup. Bad timing in an economic downturn. Might have gone over better last year.

Liberal Supporter, re leap year, for salaried people, Feb 29 is an extra day with no extra pay. For hourly workers, it's just an extra working day where you get paid for the hours you work. No great bonus there. Me, I'm kinda busy right now so I think I'll go into the office on family day, and since it's not a formal business day, I'll weat jeans, and my new silk screened 'Happy Dalton's a Liar Day' T-shirt.

I'll probably be in too. It'll be a slow day in any case, since it will be Presidents Day in the U.S.

Crap! I forgot this was a leap year. Must find a way to skip out of work that day.

Did Daltoon anticipate the high cost of health care dollars for this little gem?
Some unions 'get' family day ,some don't.
Most hospitals deal with several different unions. It is a scheduling nightmare for the hospitals.
Some full time staff sill be replaced with partime staff so that areas will be operating as normal as possible.
But admin will have the day with pay so we won't hear any squawking from the lemmings.

That squawking is the sound of all the Europeans stampeding to the consulates to emigrate here for our massive number of holidays. Just disregard this.

The little family I have left lives in other countries.

Does doing stuff with my wee doggies count?

If not, then I'm not a people in Dolton's "mind" - which means I'm AOK in my own.

Dullton: I don't make sense so you don't have to not make sense.

Or something.
