I'm not a sports fan in the slightest, but my husband just asked me to watch the opening ceremony for the Leafs-Sens game tonight. I was blown away by the soldier who sang "Oh Canada", and by the appearance of so many of our fine men and women in uniform.
This is a wonderful way to support and salute our troops. It makes me feel so proud to be a Canadian.
I never watch hockey either, but I had to watch those guys. They moved me to tears. I just stood there and hoped that all of Canada was as proud as I was. Hillier was awesome, what a great guy.
I too live with a loyal Toronto fan, and saw the opening of the hockey game, and I just couldn't believe how proud "everyone" there were of those special Canadian men and women. It seems Hillier is always in the right place at the right time....For the first time in a long time, you have that special feeling of being extremely proud to be Canadian....
I live with a Habs fan, who loves to watch the Leafs lose. ;)
Ahh Joanne, Now I know why I sensed you were a special lady, someone has to live with those Habs fans and take care of them and help them tie their shoes, etc. LOL
Gen Hillier is a class act, very personable, shared Xmas dinner with him in KAF last year, a really funny and personable guy who knows his stuff

Yeah! Hillier was there. Wasn't that awesome?

Ruth, yeah. There were a lot of emotional people there. I hope they show a clip on the net.

Exactly. In spite of all the mud-flinging going on in Ottawa, Hillier and the troops are one class act.

And lend a sympathetic ear when their beloved team loses. ;)

That would have been an amazing experience, I'm sure.
