Where the rubber meets the road - Part Deux

From the school of harsh reality - Carbon Tax Bill in the Mail (Gazette) H/T National Newswatch:

"They said consumers would not pay for this - and now here we are, paying for it."

When the Liberal government introduced the carbon tax, it said it was targeting oil companies with deep pockets.

"We are asking them to be good corporate citizens," Natural Resources Minister Claude Béchard said at the time.

He added that the plan is based on the principle that the polluter should pay.
How naive.

In the end, there really is only one taxpayer - whether you pay the bill directly or as a consumer - or even as a laid-off worker.

Ontario next? A perfect way for Doltn' to gouge us. He knows the voters here won't care, the enviro-tyrants will cheer him and he gets to brag about how he's helping to save the planet (as if the planet is in any real danger), yikes!

He does have a history of being very loose with our money alright.

British Columbia is almost there now. The only green Gordon Campbell is seeing is cash and more cash. We have had an "environmental levy" on batteries and tires for a few years now, it all goes into general revenue.

Oh yes. We here in Ontario know all about 'general revenues'.

I remember when the LPC introduced their green plan fund last year, and they basically said the same thing as the LP in Quebec, we expect the energy producers to be good corp citizens, anyway, to make a long story short, the spokesman for the Ontario Electricity Producers said the next day, to do what Mr.Dion suggested would cost 1 Billion dollars a year in Ontario alone and a course they would be passing that cost along to the consumer. Which is actually a sweet deal for them, they in simple terms pass along a 1 billion in expenses, bank 800 million in the LPC green fund and use that 800 million to re new their plant. They are in 800 million, my question is,, what happened to the other 20% in the LPC green fund. That is 200 m,, that is a lot of cash.
