If ever there were a reason to dump John Tory...

. . . here it is.

And BTW, that Stephane Dion isn't so bad either.

Monday Update: I rest my case. (Via Draftaleader)

Related - McGuinty and Obama share strategist. Interesting little tidbit here:
...In last October's vote, McGuinty was re-elected on a theme of "change that's working."

Still, Axelrod's echoes continue to be heard in Ontario politics. Pro-Liberal unions banded together as the "Working Families Coalition" to air attack ads against the Tories in the 2003 and 2007 elections.

The Conservatives complained the coalition was a front for Liberals skirting campaign-financing rules...

Remember this?

Obama and McGuinty also share another supporter.

And a nice little smackdown here from Chantel Hebert:
...In light of the short shrift that the economy was given in the recent Ontario campaign, the charge McGuinty is now leading may seem a bit contrived...

My political soul has no home in Ontario.

Well Joanne you had me a bit concerned for your state of mind until I read the chat between you and Raphael...lol

If only it was that simple!

I think Kinsella said Tory should stay on too, if I'm not mistaken.

John Tory has demonstrated world class talent at loosing elections. Dalton McWimpy has shown world class talent in destroying a province. If John remains as leader, Ontarians loose the another election in 2011.

The Shadow says tomorrow is the day.

And why wouldn't Kinsella want that Joanne?

Not an endorsement I would trust either...said the wolf as he was about to devour Grandma.

The Star is not exactly the tabloid of the right now is it?

I think there are good reasons for dumping Tory as PC leader. In his 3-year stint as PC leader, he has demonstrated poor political judgment that sunk the chances of the Tories forming a minority government allowed the Liberals, with the amount of negative political baggage that they had, to get a second majority.

OMMAG said...

Well it gives me no pleasure .... but you know I've been saying that Tory was wrong right from the getgo.
You just have to work harder at being wrong to get that kind of endorsement.

Well I have to admit when I am wrong Joanne, its a character flaw I have, I personally blame my mother for the way she raised me. LOL, But if the Star is trying to keep Mr. Tory at the helm then I am switching from my thought of keeping him as an interim leader kinda of role to he has to go soonest.

I agree. John Tory is a wonderful man, a great humanitarian, and a great fund raiser, but not a great leader.

He continues to demonstrate the latter by not stepping down for the greater good of the party.

Here's the problem - Kinsella would nail him with the FBF albatross in the next election.

And it would likely work, because he would send out press releases asking what Tory would do once in power, and his 'secret agenda'.

I've read two of Kinsella's books.

I know the drill. I could write it myself.

Hey environuts. Check out CTV's survey question today.

"What would you like to see the Harper gov't tackle when parliament coms back"

Environment, Infrastruture, Healthcare, Economy.

So far I guess Canadians aren't as concerned about the environment as the opposition suggests....truth hurts.

there's only one reason McGuinty won the last provincial election(besides Kinsella)

we let him win.....period.

ahead of the big day I'm sure the only hope Ontarians had was hoping Dalton would go away.

When I see him on the news or hear his voice, I get an unpleasant physical reaction in the stomach area.

If the PCs dump Tory they WILL NOT get elected and will be a rural rump as third party next time around. There is no one else and if the man has learned to listen to the party membership, which I believe he has, then things will be different.

PC's should not act like panicked chickens without their heads--the federal liberals did and got Dion. EEEWWW. It is time to get on with life without Mike Harris, who was a great guy for the time, but that time is gone.

The party needs to unite and work towards the goal of keeping true to conservative priciples and unseating the Liberals. Divided we fall. Simple as that.

I agree with anonymous, well said. The Liberals love it when everyone is fighting and divided. People either didn't vote or voted for someone else. We all let Tory lose.

I can't support any one who can't support more choice for parents in education....all choice, all parents, even those who think they can't afford choice.

McGuinty/Kinsella team neatly squashed the whole choice issue in Ontario, but we also did little to fight back.

Sorry, my money's on parents not leaders these days.

True conservative principles?

All the more reason to find a Blue Tory leader. Red Tories won't cut it with the grassroots. Sorry.

anon. 9:35am and ruth are wrong.

Take a look at Joanne's Monday update. The very fact that Kinsella wants Tory to stick around is proof proof of the continued Liberal entitlement theory of leadership.

I'm not going to be surprised if Warren blow Valentine's hugs and kisses in Tory's direction because I read his book too....I get it.

I'll give the link here for easy reference.

We might be wrong, but if the people wouldn't believe all the crap and lies that come from one WK, then Mr. Tory might get elected. He tried to do Randy Hillier in and it didn't work. The ones voting for Randy were smarter and could see beyond, I guess.

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Ruth, I don't think it's a case of anyone being wrong so much as it is a matter of being pragmatic.

Kinsella knows how to reach the sheeple and he has Tory's number. Unless Kinsella isn't around for the next election, there is no hope if John Tory stays on, IMHO.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Joanne. Kinsella's good at his job, like him or hate him.

He offers us all -every party, ever business, every organization insights . The brainiacs will learn from them, the less fortunate in the grey matter dept. will wash, rinse, repeat, ad nauseum.

If you believe anon. 9:35am back-to-back Harris majorities were won on a rural rump, and that's not true.

Rural, urban, Harris and his team organized well ahead of time and listened to what the grassroots wanted...both the urban and rural roots need to be on board and nurtured.

Appreciate the input, John, but I don't buy it for a minute. Can we not do better in the 5 YEARS! we have left until the next election?

John Tory has demonstrated world class talent at loosing elections.

I'm only going to say this once, because I see this mistake so many times a day:

"lose" is what you do to an election,

"loose" is what the nuts on your tire rims are, before they fall off.

Please do not lose your loose nuts.

I found an interesting link between Persichilli (who wrote the other article in favour of Tory staying on) and Warren Kinsella.

It goes back to Cookiegate:

I've seen the media and some second-class politicians have a heyday after the unfortunate "baking cookies" caption from Kinsella and, with all due respect to my friend Warren, the dust-up about his statement is greatly exaggerated for political reasons that have nothing to do with him. It's just another attempt to damage Premier Dalton McGuinty.

I know Kinsella very well and I have always appreciated his respect for women, minorities and his fight against racism...

The Red Tories ran this Province for forty years and will again.

You right wing, so-con hotheads just head back into your dark corners where you belong. You are afraid of Warren Kinsella? PLEASE!! Then get out of the game!

Liberals agreed with FBF in 2003 and backtracked conveniently in 2007 for obvious reasons. This issue is dead and there is no script to write about this in 2011.

Kinsella and the Star are making these statements to get you all worked up. Its STRATEGY people. Don't you get it? They DON'T want to see John run in 2011.

John Tory will be the Premier in 2011 and then you will all change your tunes and kiss his butt as much as you are now kicking it.

And that's a fact!!!!

Wow. John's supporters sure are nice people.
