Isn't the Record owned by Torstar?

I wouldn't pay. As the saying goes, "birds wouldn't have a Torstar paper in the bottom of their cage".

I love that line "show that they can lead on climate change - or make way for a party that can".
Hope they weren't meaning the Liberals, didn't they try for 13 years. Guess it has to be a NDP government that they want.

That's what I was thinking. Tempted to write a letter to the editor but they only allow one to be published from the same person every two months. And with the possibility of an election soon...

Go ahead and write. The election won't be called until late February or early March. If Duceppe chickens out we won't have one then either. However do save the article in your scrap book, to embarrass the Record later.

Why not a year to save the environment? Or, we could make this year the year to end AIDS in Africa? Or we could end poverty at home? Or we could end the atrocities in Darfur? Why not?

Ahhh..the flat earthers strike again. God forbid we lift a finger to clear our skies of smog. That would be against what dear leader has told us, right?

So Shorey thinks climate change = smog.

Just what you'd expect from Liberal Lemmings.

I've pretty much decided to cancel my Toronto Star subscription after they announced that they are sponsoring the big "power off" day later this year. Hypocritical considering it consumes power and trees to print the paper. I should see what the other side is saying but am getting sick of the one sidedness.

Yes, Bruce. A Star spawn. They also own a whole host of other dailies - Guelph Mercury, etc.

Thanks for the reminder, Swift. (Note to self - Cut out last year's letters from stack of newspapers in corner and put in scrapbook).

I should see what the other side is saying but am getting sick of the one sidedness.

Tom, that's what kept me subscribing, but I guess I can read it online. Why fund this idiocy?

"saving it's [earth]environment from humans".... "resistingclimate change" powerful but confusig verbage! like to see the op-ed when K/W is selected for the new nuke plant. And what about China,India...guess they only read their own news. Don't worry like all New year resolutions this to will be forgotten.Got to go idle the 4x4,throw another log on the fire, trying to resist the bitter cold. My guess is the author was Lizzy May.

Tom - right "power off" now, seeing as though "FLICK OFF" went over so well.

More waste of taxpayer dollars.

Actually Shorey, Harper has done that. In addition to reducing ghg emissions, the Conservatives have put forth meqasures to combat and reduce smog, something Dion, Gore, and Suzuki aren't interested in. In areas such as big cities those suffering from asthma and breathing problems know full well the effects of smog and the necessity to reduce it.

You do realize Shorey that Layton and Dion have openly criticised Harper for taking action on smog, saying he should be focusing soley on ghg emissions, right?

Twelve thousand years ago the ice covering a good part of North America was three to five kilometers thick. It was so heavy that the earth was depressed close to two hundred feet (it's still in the process of rebounding and has another seventy feet or so to go).
As it retreated it carved out the Great Lakes and literally defined this continent.
Ice ages are cyclical and there's absolutely nothing we can do to stop the next one.
Scientists don't really know when the next one will occur nor do they know how long it will take before we're into another one. It might take a thousand years or it might take as few as twenty.
How self-important of us to think that we can stop such a geological process!
We really should be looking at building homes with stronger walls and roofs.
Just in case, my wife and I are thinking about buying land in Mexico.
BTW, I no longer buy our local Liberal rag, the Niagara Falls Review. Too depressing to see them get Canadian politics so wrong all the time.

Neil, that's what we should all do. Stop buying the rags, and them 'em why. Maybe if it affects their bottom line they'll realize that being a CBC wannabee isn't the brightest idea when you don't have the luxury of public funding.

Speaking of the CBC, don't miss this!

Quit buying the Record Joanne...I did
It's worked out really well...my blood pressure dropped like a rock

Thanks, Canuk. Good medical advice.

I just worry about what's being pumped at the lemmings.

yes, we have to hear the other side so we can get the truth out there. People think if they read it in the paper, it can't be wrong.
