In National Post misses mark in Erickson editorial, The Black Rod applauds the Post for 'breaking ranks' with the rest of MSM, and highlighting the story, but also criticizes the newspaper for not going far enough.
The story of the collusion between the CBC and the Liberal Party of Canada is a watershed in journalism in the country.
Never before has the great divide between the Old Media and New Media been so stark.
I noticed that too, but probably the Post had to protect itself legally, because the name of the reporter in question has never been officially released by the CBC.
But why the apparent 'code of silence' among the rest of the media?
One theory is that the CBC employs many free-lance journalists, so few are anxious to stick their necks out.
Therefore, this appears to not only be a collusion between the LPC and the CBC, but also between most of MSM.
Where is the transparency in a supposedly democratic society?
Why are so many media sources in Canada simply not doing their job?

Something has to be done about this before these hearings take place this month! This is literally a 'JOKE'. I watched Thibault and Szabo last night on T.V. saying they knew Mr. Harper wouldn't call a full public inquiry.... etc. etc... and to think they are liberal members of that ethics committee who are permitted to speak on our media when everyone knows they were doing everything during those hearings that were not "ethical" is making a mockery of us all. They are laughing behind our backs, thinking they are getting away with this, this is corruption, and it is happening right under our eyes and nothing is being done about it...
From Black Rod’s blog :
“Instead he (Duffy) changed the subject and literally tried to push Lapierre away so he couldn't reveal more details. (Thank God for YouTube.) Only after a Liberal researcher confirmed the story did Duffy allow a panel to discuss the collusion.”
That is a very relevant observation by Black Rod. Because many people seem to commend Duffy for his leveraging of Lapierre’s comment. That is not the case. Duffy tried to muzzle it.

Not to mention this little tidbit, which is surely a conflict of interest.
It would be interesting to know if any Liberals have visited Schreiber over the Christmas break.
Hunter, that would be interesting to know indeed. What do you think are the odds?
It is a known fact, and was even admitted by Thibault in Joanne's link, that Thibault meet with Schribver while he was in prison on at least 2 occassions. Wouldn't that be almost like the jury meeting with the witness prior to trail and the funny thing about this all, it is never picked up by our liberal media.... If that was the other way around, and members of the Tories had met with Schribver while he was in prison and before the trial started, it would take up the whole show on Sunday's Question Period....but no one says anything... these liberals goes along their merry way, doing everything unethical, and the whole media feel they are unable to even ask a negative question to them? I really can not understand what the liberals have over the media that they can not or are unable to say anything negative about them... I think it is time we demanded answers, at least are told why! and that we can not expect any fair coverage!...

Ask your local media why.
"Ask your local media why.
They aren't stupid. They know what they are doing and why. Since they don't have the integrety to behave ethically it is highly unlikely they will care that you or I are concerned. As long as they have a pay cheque they won't rock the boat. Obviously that is Journalism 101 in any Canadian university.
Don't worry - I do!!, but get no results!. The liberals have been in power so long, all the top officals are their appointments, so they refuse to act!!.... I have written Vince Carlin, Ombudsman of CBC several times, received an answer DECEMBER 24 from John Cruickshank, Publisher of CBC that the CBC has built up a reputation in Canada and around the world with high quality Journalism, and had worked hard to earn that honour, however, he said, circumstances in this case were not clear, but an investigation was on-going and if any wrong doing was found, action would be taken.... Well, now that action is suppose to be taken, so we are told but not publically, I again wrote Vince Carlin, asking for answers. I did receive another letter stating, he felt we all would be hearing something shortly. I think he is hoping in the mean time, as I understand Vince Carlin use to work as a reporter for the CBC, shortly, we are suppose to forget it, and allow them to continue with their little games with the liberal party. So you contact the people at the top... they are all liberals, so what can we do? They are all Gods, and not to be touched!
Re:Libs meeting with Schreiber:
Here I go bashing MSM again but they were quick to complain about PMSH wisely instructing the CPC members to not talk to Mulroney during the Ethics Committee hearing, calling him the control freak. Why weren't Libs given as much negative coverage for meeting with Schrieber?
Just a rhetorical question...I know the answer.
Anon at 09:54:00 PM - You've certainly done your homework! Very impressive and thanks for sharing Vince Carlin's response.
Yes, I'm sure they are hoping this story goes away.
It's amazing and quite disconcerting how much power the media holds over the Canadian public in terms of which stories and agendas they wish to shove at us.
Unfortunately, people who only consume MSM don't have an understanding about other stories that are going on, and how their freedom of information is being held hostage by certain special interest groups.
The other interesting part of the equation is how the HRC seems to be trying to silence any conservative voices.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has noticed that Andrew Coyne has been rather silent on this issue after being so vocal on the Mulroney story earlier. Mr. Coyne should look in the mirror before he talks about ethics next time. The CBC pocket change he gets for being part of its "Political Panel" isn't worth it.

Really good point, Dante.
And rather ironic when you consider that Coyne is a big-shot at Macleans now, and they are fighting that HR complaint against the Steyn piece.
Sometimes you have to take a stand.
I think the longer bloggers like yourself, Joanne, and all the others who are keeping this alive, writing letters and blogging about it, we will see things begin to crack. They will know it is not going away and they had better get on top of it and start reporting it (Kudos to the Post) or risk being blamed as being in "collusion" themselves - which is probably closer to the truth anyway.
I think this goes to the Canadian Press and their ongoing way with SH. Who knows, this could have been common knowledge that this was going to be done in media circles.
Thank goodness for J. Lapierre who spilled the beans - for whatever the motive - we can be thankful to him because no one would ever have known. Now there is a man with ethics! Unlike many of the others in our MSM who have remained suspiciously silent on this matter
Thank goodness for J. Lapierre who spilled the beans - for whatever the motive - we can be thankful to him because no one would ever have known.
It's strange that we haven't heard more from him lately on this. Do you think perhaps there may have been some kind of backlash?
If this was only about a reporter suggesting some questions to ask, im sure it would have been resolved by now.
I am of the opinion that the story is much bigger and more involved than that.
Why else would it take so long to get to the bottom of it?
Lee, they probably all do it, but somebody got caught. There needs to be a clear policy here. Even CBC bloggers have said as much.
Interesting read here at Coyne's blog, BTW. (Comments section)
In the matter of media collusion with the LIberals and their general leftwing bias.... If you are not against it and fighting it then you are for it and helping to perpetuate the abuse.
