More questionable tactics at the CBC - With Updates!

Breaking: Stephen Taylor has a 5 p.m. update on Krista Erickson's fate. (Jan. 9)

More Breaking News - MSM editorial! We want a name - National Post (Jan. 10). This is a must-read, although L. Ian Macdonald broke the story first.

They obviously either not know or don't want to disclose the information that Stephen has, but it's great that MSM is picking this up.

What remains to be seen is what repercussions the offending Liberal MP's will suffer.

* * * *

Lack of transparency at the CBC? Who knew? More from the Star.

Meanwhile, Stephen Taylor has an update to an earlier fiasco.

And Clive has a pertinent question - CBC coincidence?

I agree with Stephen, the Liberals shouldn't get away with this at all.

Do we have what it takes to go after them effectively?

All it proves is that the true scarey, sneaky, under-handed monikers have been attributed to the wrong party....Dion and the Liberals must wear this one....starting with Szabo's removal as chair of the ethics committee.

Absolutely. We you start reviewing the whole charade, it makes you wonder if Szabo knew what was going on.

We must demand answers!... I have written the CBC many times, and received an answer ONCE on DECEMBER 24 (They were hoping, like the liberals I would forget about it over the Holidays).... but it was from John Cruickshank. He stated the CBC had built its reputation in Canada and around the world with high quality journalism, and worked hard to earn this honour. He also stated, the circumstances in this case were not very clear, but an investigation was on-going and if wrong doing was found, disciplinary action would be taken. Well, now we hear this!!... This may, so the CBC feels, solves their problem, but what about the other part of the proble? These questions would never of made it to the ethic committee hearings if it wasn't for the liberal members who decided to make it an issue and deliver them!. It was Pablo Rodriguez, Robert Thibault and Chair, Paul Szabo who presented and allowed this line of questions that were made and presented to them to ask by a member of the CBC. Now it is up to the CBC to make their half of the bargain known, who was involved... and bring this issue forward so the liberals can also be held responsible for their part of the deal. If not, they will just grab another CBC reporter and questions will then be asked in the House of Commons, if they are not already crafting questions for them?.... If the CBC wants any credibility to this at all, we deserve to know what happened and who was involved. I wrote back on December 24th with these issues, and also again today, and unless we continue to demand answers, nothing will be done, because the liberal media is refusing to report it, and the liberals are hoping to sweep it under the table.... This sound like a good deal, the liberals heading an ethics committee, demanding answers from Mr. Mulroney... we better demand a few ourselves on their ethics...

Worked for me.

Exactly. I especially want to know if Paul Szabo was in on this.

Exactly. I especially want to know if Paul Szabo was in on this.

IMHO Szabo knew exactly what was going on, when you watch the video of the questioning and the aftermath, you can see that Szabo is adamant that the questioning continue. He doesn't miss a beat.

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Platty, if he was in on it, then he should resign as chair.

An obvious conflict of interest and lack of good judgment. Hardly good qualifications as chair of an Ethics committee.

The integrity of the Parliamentary process has been compromised. We need an inquiry.

Platty said...

Exactly Jo,

My first thought, when I saw Szabo was going to chair this fiasco, don't you need ethics to chair an Ethics committee?

Anonymous -- I'm sorry to hear your problems with leaving a comment on my blog. I have closed down the comments on the "income trust debate" piece -- in case that was where you were trying to leave a comment. That discussion had gone as far as it could go.

However, if someone has more to add to that discussion, they can e-mail me what they want to say and I'll reopen that debate.

I also have a plug-in which shuts down older comments after a few weeks. So, comments cannot be left on old posts. And, there is a good reason for that because that is how spam comes in to a blog -- attached to old comments.

But, other than that, everything should be fine.

Come back and visit.

I just checked my guide to see what is on t.v. tonight. On CBC there is Little Mosque - tonight's title is 'jihad on ice'.

Shame on the CBC

Shame on the CBC

I stopped watching long ago. I got tired of their morality plays that push politically-correct dogma.

Keep pounding cause this is not how I want my tax dollars spent at the CBC.. come to think of it I don't want my tax dollars spent at the CBC. Does this broad get paid sick leave to go and cry about the mean nazi's to all her little commie friends? (real conservative)

Terrific read on the "National Post" today but we must also demand an answer from the liberals as well. Those questions would never of made it to the eithics committee hearing if not raised by Pablo, Robert Thibault and Chair, Paul Szabo allowing this line of questions, it was that group that made this an issue, and the liberal party, and most importantly of all, that committee should be held accountable for thier actions. Let's get on this, it is starting to break and we have to keep it in the news. Let's expose those liberal panel members for what they did, or they will grab another reporter and keep on going!

Finally - (although, I note no name attached to this article).

Why are none of the Ottawa Journalists not decrying the Liberal party over this?

After all - it probably does "happen all the time"
that reporters and journalists "suggest" questions to be ask.

The travesty is that one party actually decided to derail an ethics committee agenda by attempting to dig up dirt.

Yet nothing from our MSM.....

If this had been a Conservative MP jumping into an ethics committee hearing that he was not a member of an asking a question that had nothing to do with the mandate of said ethics committee..........

sigh.....

Are there any rules re an ethics committee and what they can/should do. Can they change members, like dirty socks. Brian is suing one of the members, yet he can question Brian. Wonder if we went to the HRC and laid a complaint against Pablo and the chairman, how far we would get.
Ethics commissioner has cleared PMSH of any wrongdoing or giving special treatment to anyone.
My solution, cut all funding to cbc until name is made public, by Peter, with guilty female front and center, with a big sign, I GOOFED.
With the sale of film rights to another country, does that mean if cbc wants to re-run any of those programs, we the taxpayer will have to pay again.

Do I actually sense someone blaming the media for the attacks on the P.M. in that article in the Toronto Star, of all places. Maybe I just read it wrong...the piece by Slinger "Where is the Love for the idle PM"

Ruth, amazing! Thanks for the tip.

"the piece by Slinger "Where is the Love for the idle PM"

Un-Friken-believable.

It never ends.....

Joanne (True Blue) said...

I've read that piece several times now, and each time I come away wondering exactly what he's trying to say and who he's trying to slam.

I think everyone is in his cross-hairs today.

Anonymous said...

I only read it once and it reads like Slinger is claiming PMSH has done nothing for Canadians, so why shouldn't 'they' dislike him.
The TO Star says it enough times and they realise their readers swallow it no questions asked.
I know.
My TO family are avid Star readers.
They swipe at Harper without any facts, and they are still blaming Harris for TO's problems.
Lemmings.indeed.
bluetech

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Bluetech, the first time I read it, I took it the way Ruth seemed to - that he is holding the media somewhat accountable for the rift between the PM and the PPG.

However, after reading it a few more times, I see that he is accusing Harper of doing nothing, which is ridiculous. He also manages to poke fun at Dion.

A well-written article doesn't leave you wondering what the heck the author was trying to say.

Thanks for reading this, I just knew that the Toronto Star couldn't be praising the PM. I agree that it's not a well-written article, maybe the author could explain it to us.
