Last guy in North America to get his own blog

My son pointed this one out to me - Rick Mercer Report: Jan. 15 episode - Click on "Last guy to get his own blog".

You don't think he's trying to drum up support for his nomination here, do you? - Canadian Blog Awards 2007 has him listed as a candidate under "Best Media/Celebrity Blog".

While you're there, check around a bit. You might discover some other familiar names.

Ok Joan,as a lurker one vote for you from me.I would have anyway as I do enjoy your views although sometimes???What surprised me that under non-partisan there were only 9 choices!Sad commentary in my opinion on Canadian bloggers/politics.Same polarization as MSM.

Hey, Greyburr. Thanks!

Yeah, I admire non-partisan bloggers. Hard to do. Can anyone be totally objective and non-partisan?

Joanne, I am shocked, what a shameless plug for votes, LMAO, I vote already and being how it is a secret ballot I cannot in all respect to the democratic process reveal how I voted but it was for a blog with two word title and both words started with a J. LOL, Keep up the good work

I assumed "Best conservative blog" meant "is not operated by a completely barking mad raving high functioning loonie". So you got my vote.

Otherwise I would have voted for Kate!!! (even though I've never been there)

Hahaha!

Ha-ha! Awesome, Kingston. Thanks.

I must remember to thank the one who nominated me too. Someone who uses the name of a Canadian city that starts with a "K". ;)

Well, Kate will be tough to beat - make that impossible.

But it's fun to be in on this round of the voting anyway. Thanks for your support, L.S.

First, congrats on the nomination.

However, how are the classifications established?
For instance, Neil McKenty appears twice in the same category - Best Progressive Blog - and re-appears under Non-Partisan Blog.

And James Laxer non-partisan!?! On what planet?
From Wiki:
"James Laxer (b. December 22, 1941) is a Canadian political economist, professor and author.

In 1969, Laxer, along with his father Robert Laxer and Mel Watkins, founded the Waffle, a radical left wing group influenced by the New Left, the anti-Vietnam War movement and Canadian economic nationalism, that tried to win control of the New Democratic Party (NDP).

In 1971, Laxer ran for the leadership of the federal NDP, and shocked the convention by winning one-third of the vote against David Lewis. The Waffle was ultimately forced out of the NDP and briefly became an independent political party under the name "Movement for an Independent Socialist Canada". Laxer and other Wafflers unsuccessfully ran for Parliament in 1974. This electoral failure led to the Waffle's dissolution, and Laxer concentrated on his work as an academic at York University and in broadcasting.

In 1981, he was hired as director of research for the federal NDP, but left in controversy in 1983 when he published a report critiquing the party's economic policies as being "out of date".

Laxer remains prominent as an author, columnist and commentator."

Unless it's a different Laxer ... in which case, my apologies.

Wow, you've got an eagle eye! I didn't notice that about McKenty. Perhaps he has two different blogs? I'm not familiar with that one.

I think a blog can be nominated under more than one category though.

Laxer is another one I'm not familiar with. Sure are a lot of blogs out there.

I like your blog but my votes went to Crux for best education blog
Stephen Taylor
and Angry...only because they've been really quick on the draw and have excellent sleuthing ability.

maybe next year?

Not a problem, Anon. You made good choices. I voted for them myself.

Small Dead Animals or Warren Kinsella?

Hmmm....like them both for the same reasons actually. Go figure.
