If you get stuck in the snow today, don't do this!

Big storm in Southern Ontario today. I walked to the store and by the time I headed home it was like a blizzard. My eyes are still stinging.

Anyway, I just received this link from an acquaintance:

How NOT to pull your car out of the Snow
.

Warning! Do not watch the video while eating or drinking, or your computer screen will be wearing it about half way through.

I learned the hard way.

I knew where that was going as soon as I saw where they put the strap. As someone who has worked in the auto industry my guess would be about $4500 to repair.

They should consider themselves lucky the starp never came off the car and recoiled taking one of their heads off, particularly the guy with the camera. The most amazing thing is you have three or four young guys, a light car, and they couldn't puch it out using good old-fashioned muscle.

Or use a shovel. ;)

I'm guessing alcohol was a factor.

Just a theory.

It seems to me that going forward, shoveling more snow, and then backing out again, would have been the less Darwinist way.

Heh. These guys are probably not Mensa members.

"Heh. These guys are probably not Mensa members."

Yep. More like Young Liberals:0)

These guys have obviously been raised to believe that the govt solves all problems, and it never dawned on any of them to do it themselves. Who will pay for the damage. What would they do if they really got stuck in a snow bank.

It's not fair, do you know how hard it is not to be stupid?

There must have not been a video game made where you clear a level by pushing a car out of the snow...

This has got to be put on just for the camera. There is no way that many guys could be that stupid.
All they had to do was shovel a couple feet of snow!
Then again, a weak mind and a strong drink.....

How would all those small electric or hybrid cars fare in the snow, or snowbanks.

Five whole comments, and I was becoming concerned that nobody tried to make a cheap partisan shot.

Good to see business as usual here! Hahahaha!

maryt: I had a small car and recall I could often drive right over small snowbanks, it was so light. Any battery will have less power in cold, so a full electric could have less range, but a hybrid does have a gasoline engine. So the engine would run more than in warmer weather. If the batteries are mounted in the trunk area, they would give the car more weight and probably better traction.
