The comments make for a fascinating read, including the one that caught Lemon's eye concerning the suggestion that the mechanics are upset about the TTC's purchase of new vehicles with warranties, which would mean less work for them.
However, the one that intrigued me was David R's suggestion that we look up the fable of the Scorpion and the Frog, which I did.
It seems to me that Toronto has many scorpions attacking it right now, but if I were to make a generalization, I would point to a population that continues to elect weak-kneed socialist politicians.
The Toronto Sun has started a new series trying to figure out how to save the Centre of the Universe. Rob Granastein suggests that it's up to the citizens to effect change.
I agree. And it should start at the ballot box.
Toronto voters need to stop stinging themselves.

Toronto is my second home. Miller has been a terrible mayor and yet he was re elected. He is unable to balance the books without large tax increases.
He seems to be in the pocket of the unions. Why should be surprised he is NDP in all but name.

I'm not sure how much you know about Toronto mayor David Miller beyond what your partisan cronies spoon feed.
Miller is certainly not a socialist.Do you even know what the term means?
Miller wasa ble to get the house sitting on a Sunday in order to stop short the TTC strike.
Without a good working relationship with the province, this wold have been more difficult.
Miller and McGuinty have shown how different levels of govt can work together to solve problems that affect the population.
Harper and his batch of bullies could learn alot about teamwork from their example.
As a proud Torontonian, I don't feel compelled to accept advice from someone living in Kitchener-Waterloo.

I hope you also don't feel compelled to accept a bail-out from the province or the feds.

Sure, anon... selective memory working well for you? Or are you just ignoring how Harper, McGuinty and Miller came together over this very issue (GTA transit) last year?
Get your head out of the ground you partisan hack.
not to mention anon. that Harper's doing a great job and getting things done for Canada and bringing his minority together like no one's business.
How be the rest of Ontario vote Toronto off the island? Quit complaining.
How can anyone even bring themselves to write something so outrageously false, as to claim that a card carrying member of the proudly socialist NDP party, is not a socialist. That brings typical socialist disinformation tactics to a new low. Maybe if you Toronto Tontos would occaisionaly listed to someone outside the bubble, your city wouldn't suck at everything. Maybe you hadn't heard that Waterloo is the world's most intelligent community? Intelligence doesn't seem to be a virtue in TO
