Dion has been a disappointment as leader of the opposition. I bet there are a lot of Liberals around, who are now kicking themselves for not voting for another candidate during the Liberal Leadership convention last December.
Actually LS, that reminds me of when he said he was the best opposition leader Canada has ever had. Come on you gotta love the irony in that one, Because if you agree, maybe we should leave him right there in that job.LOL
I feel sorry for him too, but not sorry enough to vote for him.
For the next few days (until the by-election that is) the story will be 'what happens if Dion loses?' Pundits will be openly predicting a coup, political observers will be pointing out all his flaws, etc..
Being a politician sucks, being a leader of a political party really stinks. Dion seemed to be better as a cabinet minister.
But then again, he's said enough nasty stuff about Harper to make it extremely difficult for me to feel sorry for him for long.
It makes a reference to the following article in the National Post.
This quote regarding Mr. Dion's leadership hits the nail on the head:
"Stephane Dion appears to believe that the job of the official Opposition is to oppose everything, even if it means proposing things you know you would never enact as prime minister."
Things are not appearing to be going well in the Liberal caucus. Dion has resorted to publically attacking 24 MPs from his own party.
Reading carefully what Iggy said: "This is a Liberal mission"... Are the soldiers Liberal? Does the military belong to the Libs? Does that mean when we had a Liberal PM, nothing was decided as 'Canadian foreign policy' but as 'Liberal'? Does Iggy know what it means to be Canadian? Just rhetorical questions... I suppose some might like to answer tho.
Thanks for that link. My Lib MP was one of the 26 that Dion criticised ...time to write him a letter!

Yeah, I almost feel sorry for Dion.
Of course he's disappointing as Leader of the Opposition. He's in the wrong job!
He'll be much better as Prime Minister.
Ha! I like your spirit, L.S.
You never give up. Good for you.

I just finished watching the whole Mansbridge interview. I feel very sorry for him now. I wonder if he'll get some kind of sympathy vote?
Dion has done nothing to indicate that he is a nice man. The 'nerdy professor' schtick is meaningless.

Fellow blogger Alberta Ardvark has an excellent post on Stephane Dion's performance as Opposition Leader
It is good not to be the king

Wow! Tony, thanks for both links. That last one is going to be his undoing. You don't attack your own people in public.
Monsieur Dion should return to teaching; er... well, I'm sure there is a job out there for him somewhere.

For sure. I smell a Liberal mutiny.
It's been said that there are two great tragedies in life:
1) Not getting what you want; and
2) Getting what you want.
I think Dion is increasingly falling into Tragedy #2.
