To Al Gore - Flick Off, eh?

Does anyone else out there resent Al Gore telling Canada what to do about the environment? I can barely tolerate David Suzuki's squawking, but the sanctimonious Goracle???

Well Mr. Gore, stick this in your global warming pipe and smoke it.

One has to wonder why he didn't apply for UN approval before wading into the politics of another sovereign country.

One thing's for sure. Gore can't use his country as an example...period!
So what are we doing listening to this self-appointed "expert" on all things environmental? Sure speaks volumes for the dim-lights following the parade.

How stupid ARE we?

Not stupid anon.#1...perhaps Canadians might be characterized as being a bit too gullible. I find it funny that Dion and his crew are the first one to condemn Harper and the Torie for being too American, yet it's ok for the Liberals to point to Gore when it suits them. Actually, Gore's record in gov't on the environment is equal to Dionss....didn't get the job done either.

Boy, you sure got him with your incisive and well-reasoned counter-argument.

For Canada, I guess there is little a well-timed, very expensive taxpayer-funded radio and likely tv ad campaign can't solve.

That's the best approach, I think - buy lots of ad time and use taxpayers money to convey what is effectively a partisan message.

I know you Tories love that sort of thing (though i am sure will remain dead silent on this round).

Gee, when did the Conservatives become so anti-American?

Pro-torture. Anti-human rights. Now America bashing. Tut, tut...

Next thing you'll be forcing CFL bulbs down our throats and admitting that climate-change exists. Oh wait, never mind.

Back to America-bashing. ;)

RT, I know Al Gore has G-R-O-W-N quite a bit since his days as VP, but I think it's an overstatement on your part to say that Conservatives are bashing America - he hasn't quite reached that size ... yet!

Signed by a similarly horizontally-challenged person.

Gore told McGuinty to shut down the Coal-fire power plants , but McGuinty already promised us he would shut them down, too bad Gore knows so little about Ontario he puts his Carbon Footprint in his mouth .

BTW, Clinton and Gore seem to be in Toronto trying solve Global issue far more often then when they were in the WhiteHouse .

Gabby, you're on your game today!

"Gabby, you're on your game today!"

It must have been that extra coffee ... or, as I've said before, maybe it's the company I'm keeping.

Gabby, whatever it is, I'm glad you're a frequent visitor. You contribute a lot to this blog.

Gore has G-R-O-W-N ?

In a previous thread, an anon said this:

LS has promoted Harper to a 'climate change resistor'! Really LS...he's only human..he can't hold back clouds or make snow any better than the rest of us.And those jet streams...way out of his league!

I did not provide the obvious comeback, since there has been some complaining about such things. However, given the comments on Big Al here, I feel more comfortable saying:

anon said: "(Harper)'s only human..he can't hold back clouds or make snow any better than the rest of us"

Steve can't hold back clouds, but I am sure he deflects them. I suspect there is an entire micro-climate in his vicinity. When Steve takes a stand, if he is oriented correctly, you can bet there is a chinook immediately behind him, and an Alberta Clipper extending for thousands of miles further.

You know, the version I did not post yesterday was much funnier...

On a more serious note, it’s entirely fair comment for Gore to have weighed in on the matter given that Baird had previously claimed that Gore was supportive of the Conservatives approach to the environment.

Look at it another way. Let’s say for the sake of argument that Gore had endorsed the Conservative plan. Would you still be telling him to “flick off”? Be honest now...

No, because it's hard to blog when you're lying on the ground having suffered a massive heart-attack.

We have a new way of being ecologically friendly. Its called paper offsets. For all those who are feeling guilty when you use more than one sheet when you visit the bathroom, there is a way to offset your extravagence. Simply cancel your subscription to your favorite left wing newspaper. Then you can wipe as much as you want and still be way ahead. As an extra bonus it cuts down on mind pollution as well.

RT, I think it would only be fair comment IF the government was, at THIS point in time, claiming that Gore supported the Conservatives' approach to the environment. Since the government is not now so claiming, and hasn't for more than a little time, I submit that it falls outside of fair comment.
