But McGuinty, who proudly donned a bracelet emblazoned with the slogan earlier in the day, said he can't understand how it could offend "the modest sensibilities of some Ontarians."
"I might expect my mother to complain about this," McGuinty told a gathering of radio and television news directors in Toronto.
So I wonder if Dalton's mother has also joined Liberal media strategist Ben Chin's list of Ontario residents who are "out of touch"?

Update: Lorrie Goldstein tells McGuinty to flick-off (with respect). I second the motion.

nice to see how you're taking the focus off of the current negative image of the federal conservatives (e.g. O'conner Scandal) by focusing on provincial politics...
pulling a Baird hey - deflect and run.

Rich.
Anonymous, you are using the language of the left, ie scandal regime, lack of gravitas etc.
O'Connor has more class and decency in one of his many years of military service to this country then all of your years of sucking off the government teat. It amazes me how the left scorns the very people that provide them the freedom to be a**holes in the first place. ("We're peacekeepers, not like the war loving Americans")
As for "Flick off", it is a disgusting campain, played to the lowest common denominator in this country. McGuinty should be ashamed. But I am sure shame nor honour are words not used often by Liberals.

It's as if McGuinty is telling the whole province to FlICK-OFF.
Anon. #1 - you must have been sleeping the day away today and missed the headlines screaming that the Liberals did a bit of covering up themselves re: Afghan. prisoners.
Should be a Happy Birthday on Monday for Steve. Can't wait for question period.
Oh, and Flick Off! McGuinty's wrong on this also. I guess that's why they dumbed down the safe schools act last week...so now kids can wear their Flick off shirts and hats and not be suspended for swearing.

hey there "no-name!" The little thing you call the 'O'Connor scandal' is nothing more than Liberal deflection and misdirection, all based on falsehoods.
The scandal is really a B.S. job floated by some terrorists, real and worngly captured (as un-uniformed participants, none of the Geneva Conventions really accord thes terrorists the protection everyone on the left side of the boat is whining about, cause they don't rate recognition as an 'Army.' And, the agreement which had been in place was a Liberal-signed tract. The Liberals knew, long-ago what they had to hide in Af'stan, about exactly this sort of thing. Try reading some of the French (la belle Province) press, to see the sharp teeth coming at your weasly Liberal butt.
Any further nonsensical attempts to continue to gang up on Minister O'Connor will even further underline the tenuous grip the Liberals have on their last of nineteen lives.
Afghanistan, Kyoto, Holland and Jennings ( a la Republican Nixon Watergate fiasco) stealing government documents, another old Liberal Sponsorship thief in Montreal, FINALLY admitting to his crimes. Now awaiting sentencing. How many more Liberals, civilians and Politicians, to follow?
ALL of this is Liberal rot, and it's coming to a head.
That's why the Libs are trying to pull out all the stops, in an attempt to derail the current Government of Canada. The Liberals are the 'cornered rats' who will stoop to anything, trying to regain power, and the purse-strings.
Just read through an Alberta Liberal website, that talks of how Dion, the Great unilingual separatist, "has woven together his "t'ree peelers"..."
Typical Liberal 'Pillars.' So unstable that even a Kermit the Frog clone, pencil-necked geek can actually "weave" these darned things...
Ah yes, the above 'Name-calling?' Just my feeble response to much of what I've read in today's dailies, websites and blogs.
Speaking as a vet, from my vantage point here on this side of retirement, I'd just say, let O'Connor Minister the DND. The Man is a Soldier, not a silver tongued law school graduate. As I recall, soldiers never did much talking when I served my time. Let him run the mission, let his spokesperson do the talking.
Quit defending the Liberals in their indefensible corners. Now, repeat after me: "...the only good Liberal is an unelected, convicted and incarcerated Liberal..." Well Done!!
Ciao! Love, Hugs and kisses.

Go easy on McGuinty's mother. Imagine looking across the dinner table and seeing Dalton and his sidekick brother and realizing they are your kids.

Twitchy, nerve-damaged, trigger finger -- ergo: double posting.
Sorry 'bout that.
Tango, not a problem. It increases my comments count. ;)
Tango Juliette
i agree 100% with your double post and for my money post it twice more
good on you and minister o'connor
hope he stays and is not forced out
Prime Minister Harper would lose a tiny tiny bit of my respect if he fired him but i don't think he will
great post Jonne
Florence
Sorry Joanne
i left the "a" out in my last post
Florence
Thanks, Florence. I think the only thing Harper's government is guilty of is perhaps effective communication on this particular file.
Will O'Connor be the sacrificial lamb? I guess time will tell.
Last comment s/b "ineffective" communication.
I think I need a break from blogging again.
Its the battle of the "anonymous" commenters I see. On anon yelling at another. I must admit, there is a slice of comedy to be had here.
Heh "Flick your Bic"
You know, Joanne, your narcissism would be less boring if you a) had a real sense of humour and b) were 1/3 as educated as you pretend to be.
You really are a foolish little twit.
Cheers.
You really are a foolish little twit.
Well, I've been called worse. Coming from you, that was probably quite restrained.

An excellent case in point for Pro-Abortionists.

Zac: your liberal arrogance is showing. As most Liberal arrogance is often wont to do. Most of the anon. posts you seem to try to denigrate, actually carry some sort of "personalized" signature.
Perhaps some of the other "anonymous" posters, find themselves in the same boat I'm in.
This technology is just way to ahead of folks like me. fortunately for us, some bloggers like Joanne's Journey allow us less sophisticated ones in the ether a chance to get our "voices" read, by allowing entry into the blogsphere through the "anonymous" portal.
This may also have something to do with my not currently being a supporter of things left, Dip, Lib, nor US Nixonian/Deanish Dee-Mock-Ratticque BS. I certainly don't have the bona fides of being connected to Greatness, and of worshipping at the knee of the Gore-man who invented the internet.
Guess that might also make me, according to the creative wazirs like Margaret Atwood and the author/accused plagiarst, 'creator' of the Life of Pi, somewhat of a phillistine.
Only this phillistine: loves the arts, has earned a BFA, has worked as an artist in advertising, is a published author and illustrator, has had a number of international solo art exhibits. One of the exhibits, thanks to the work of the gallery which represents me, had rec'd a Arts grant of $500 hundred dollars, for mounting the show. It took a bit of time, but I was finally able to repay the government the grant (not loan) money. I figured that my art didn't need any special government subsidy, that was not also going to be available to the guys opening their plumbing or electrical shops, the families opening up their bakeries, garages or mills, the women, like my severely handicapped niece, who earns a decent living through knitting, day in day out, confined to her wheelchair.
there are a lot of us liberal-branded phillistines, who just see what we do as part of who we are. Unlike the Lib supporters, we may not really believe that being able to sculpt or write is any more mystical or magical, and therefore more deserving of government (using tax dollars) largesse, than being able to churn out widgets, cars, brownies and bagels or well-constructed homes.
The arts belong to everyone, everyone is an artist.
"We don't need no stinking, self-appointed, pompous Artsee High Priest and Priestesse twits turning the Arts into something akin to the New Art Religion World Order, wherein only the select few Artistes judge who is "in" and who is "out" of the inner sanctum sanctorum."
Atwood! I think that you're a great bluffy writer, but perhaps not the sharpest when selecting poorly-hatched diatribes against Cnadian citizens , for the purpose of bullshit partisan declarations. Why "FlIck it up" with your poorly-thought out, sophmoric, grade-school level, in-crowd rants?
ciao!
love, Higs and kisses.

Joanne's comeback: 'Well, I've been called worse.'
Coming from Joanne, that was probably quite restrained. And very much in keeping with her style.
Joanne, my guess is that the full response to "Ti-dorque" should well have included the last bit, as well. Undoubtedly very apropos. The entire rejoinder to some infantile-minded twit initiating name-calling as a feeble attempt at the refutaion of another's comments, follows. At absolutely no charge. Tien.
"I've been called far, far worse, by someone far, far better."
Salut!

“I’M A PHILISTINE...” (To the melody of Monty Python’s “I’m a Lumberjack...” )
I’m a philistine, Maggie did state
always looking to hurl her “hate.”
I’m a philistine, but that’s okay
‘cause I write at night and make art all day.
I’m a philistine the lib-fans quote
I pay my way – don’t need no Arts Grant Note.
I’m a philistine the lefties all say
I just ‘do my thing’ and I pay my way.
Some days I use acrylics,
Some nights I work with “Word”
When the Kulturniy High Priests speak out
It’s to laugh, they are so absurd.
They act like they’ve cornered the market
On creativity and Smarts
There are others, not just lefties,
Contributing in the arts.
I’ve raised up a great big family, spent fifty years in a full-time job,
Still find that I get “ticked-off” though,
When an arrogant “progressive”
Tries to liken me to a “yob.”
I'm a philistine, ol’ Maggie claims,
I just do my thing, don’t call folks names.
I'm a philistine, guess that's okay
cause I write all night and I paint all day.
There’s my starting point.
Ciao!

A personal insult, and trying to switch the topic to federal politics (as though Canadian political bloggers are somehow required by law to talk only about federal politics), are the only major 'counters' to your argument, Joanne.
I guess that means you're right on this point. ;)
The 'Flick Off' campaign (where 'flick off' looks a great deal like 'f--- off' ) is a bad idea. If someone tried to tell me to 'f--- off' in a clever way, I doubt that I'd respond by granting their wish for me to be more environmentally friendly...
