Bye-bye Belinda

Cherniak and company lament the announcement that Ms. Stronach is flying the coop.

One comment puzzles me though:
Wow. I didn't see this coming. Pretty big blow to women in politics.

Update: Clive has written an obit. Hilarious!

AngryGWN - Steve wonders how much heads-up time Stronach gave Dion.

Thursday Update: Clive's back at it again. He has a hidden camera exclusive!!!! You won't want to miss it.

Heheh classic.

Can't say I am disappointed to see Jay upset over this one.

I am not surprised. She has never demonstrated the ability to keep a commitment.

She'll do great things as HR BigWig handling Union Issues for daddie once he gets leveraged, by CSL[?] perhaps, in his bid to take over Chrysler? Can Peter Mac eventually take over Rev Can for just long enough to hammer these clowns who tried to rape Canada?

Maybe she's going to get really serious now about ....... well something~!

Glad that she is gone. Time for these people to go.

I thought she was so concerned about children dying of malaria in Africa.

I think that's what really bugs me about her. She is in a position to really do some good work for causes like "malaria nets", and yet she seems to feel unfulfilled unless she has some top job of something.

She tries to get the Conservative leadership....which just about made me sick, watching her read from her index cards that she tried to hide. (right, you're on stage, there's cameras everywhere, and you try to 'sneak' a look at an index card to let you know that the next word you have to say is 'the'.)

She crosses the floor...more attention, cabinet post, does nothing.....

She seeks the liberal leadership, but has to drop out because she a)can't speak french any better than a french poodle, and b) she knows that she will be horribly humiliated by how few people will vote for her

She finally does something worthwhile, with the malaria tent crusade, and yet that kind of thing is not enough for her. Yet, she espouses to care, to care, to care ad nauseum.

She states that the people in Newmarket are her main concern....uh huh....guess that's why she's dropping out of politics.

So, now she's going back to being v-p of something in her daddy's business. Would she drop out if she didn't have this high profile, cushy job to go to?

That's what bugs me about her....her lack of integrity, and her sole focus being "her". I don't have a problem with people growing up in wealth, but I do have a problem with those who do, who have very little down-to-earth experience, trying to get into positions of politics or social change, when they _know_nothing_about_living in the real world.

whew....this was long....and right after I made a decision to let Belinda alone. :-)....maybe it's not my call. Maybe we should petition Belinda to let the public alone, and to go away and do something quietly, without seeking the public eye. She just might find the satisfaction of helping others quietly much more rewarding than this constant seeking the limelight, which isn't working, otherwise she wouldn't continue to do so.

She will still be active in "Spread the Net" as she's reaised millions of dollars for the group. Let's not be so negative. She's doing great work for them.

ANY!

It has made the left feel a little better about themselves after their call for the banning of DDT has resulted in the deaths of several thousand Africans and others around the world

She's changed her hair color again, as seen on Duffy. She's a master at playing the 'victim', but then she had the support of Duffy too, who was so disappointed at the nasty comments people are making on the radio air waves about her.

One of his comments was a stunner..."She didn't have to go into politics." Huh??? Did anyone pull her kicking and screaming because they actually believed she could make a difference??? Didn't she go into politics so that she could become the queen on a party???

enuff duff....the guy is really thick sometimes....mentally I meant.

pretty neat to see, cherniak aside, many Liberals "cheering" her departure (cerberus, calgary grit, Gerard Kennedy in some many words)....

everytime a Grit quits, they cheer. I tell you this: when my hair starts falling out, I won't be cheering.

Magna is getting Chrysler and Belinda. Is it time to short Magna stock?

As a resident of Newmarket I am cheering her decision. We have had enough of this B.S. A group of my friends and I, all women have been trying for more than 6 months to get a meeting with her and we never even get a response. Then we all wrote her a letter praising the Save the Net campaign, and we get an instant response. She was not in the job for her constituents, just for herself.

Sorry Joanne, but this is totally off topic....but, as you live in Hamilton, I thought you might be interested in this article (you may already have read it). So, fyi...

It's in the April 9 edition of the Western Standard....page 36, "Nuclear Reaction: McMaster University sues an American author who believes the school is a hotbed of Islamic terrorism". Apparently the FBI wants to speak with Adnan G.l El Shukrijumah who was spotted on the campus. They're offering $5 million for information leading to his capture.

They believe that he may be masterminding al Quaeda's next big terrorist attack against the U.S.

Swift, I did hear that Magna stock was down yesterday...

Raz, I live close to Hamilton, but in the eyes of most folks, there's Toronto, and then there's the ROC. I live in the latter.

I'm a Western Standard subscriber. I'll have to check that out. Thanks. So much is going on right now, it's hard to keep up.

Belinda's problem as I see it, is that she is searching for something to give her life meaning. Not sure if she's looking in the right places though.

Joanne my apologies for connecting thru your blog but:
Dianne...I thought you had a blog? Recently saw BS take on Gwen Landolt at a Senate committee hearing. She looked down her nose at Gwen and asked if any members of Real Women were in Parliament. Gwen was very gracious.
BS did nothing for women in politics. She had no backbone. Who could 'identify ' with her?

....I used to live in downtown Toronto, so I know what you mean. Now I'm back home in the west. Frankly, I have many good friends in Toronto, some of them who talk very conservatively, but seem to vote liberal. Go figure that one.

The article I mentioned was in the hard copy of the magazine. I don't have any subscriptions to any newspapers or magazines online, thus I don't know if they carry every article.(shrug)....but I guess you will find out.

The article certainly popped out though amidst all of the others.

Is there any doubt at all anywhere that Bindi's leaving the conservatives was a good thing for us??

Ironically .... it's probably a good thing for the libs she quit them too!

This calls for a a mini celebration.

Raz, I just read the article. Very interesting, but still nothing has been proven. A lot of allegations.

Someone who is closer to McMaster is Zac.

...yes, but enough suspicions or whatever to get printed in the WS.

I guess I'm more aware of this kind of thing as I remember after 9/11 when a photocopy shop that I used to go to in downtown Toronto was closed, because the owner was arrested because of suspicion that he had ties to Al-Quaeda.

Yeah, I've heard rumours before this about McMaster. I just don't want to be sued or anything. So we will talk about "alleged" incidents. ;)
