Blogging Tories Beware

MSM is watching you!!!

Updates - More bathrobed indignation at the following:

Kerplonka: BT in the news, and it's not pretty. (No, it's not. I haven't brushed my hair yet).
ChuckerCanuk: Belinda and the Blogging Tories
Canadianna's Place: He used WHAT word? (Check out the comments. BT's are labelled "moron bloogers".)
Canadian Christian Conservative: CTV assumes incorrectly...again!

Now here's from another POV:
Steve Janke: Peter MacKay owes his boss an apology
A Step to the Right: Give 'em enough rope to hang 'em.

O.K. CTV! I want an update to that story!! I want you to report that there are Blogging Tories with other points of view. Prove that you don't have an agenda!!!

Further Update: Check out Choice for Childcare - Can you call Peter MacKay a pussy in the news? (Good question, Sara. I think MSM has just hit a new low.)

And here's a beaut from Relapsed Catholic - How can a blog be "official" and unofficial at the same time?

I like this part:

"Personally, I don't get "talking points" from the government. This reporter probably thinks Catholics get a faxed memo every day from the Vatican, too."

Good stuff, Kathy. Just one question - Who's on that C-list you're talking about? Just askin'...

;)

Dr. Roy weighs in with Calling Belinda a Dog - Insult to man's best friend.

The one good thing about all of this is that it's taking away Garth Turner's spotlight - for the moment anyway. And hey, who needs soaps?

Aside from the fun part about being noticed, I find a few things troubling in the CTV link.

Some go even farther than MacKay might have Thursday in the House of Commons.

First of all it appears that they are trying to promote a notion that the conservative party is anti-women; something that Belinda was seeming to allege in many interviews yesterday.

The Liberals are trying to keep this thing going because they are trying to draw a connection between MacKay's comment and flogging it as a common attitude throughout the party.

There is an undertone of bias if you read the article carefully.

Here's another:

The websites listed at www.bloggingtories.ca have no official ties to the Conservative government.

But in recent weeks, the sites have run the same media talking points as those issued by senior officials in government.

At first blush, I would say, well duh! However, again it is a thinly veiled attempt to paint conservatives as a bunch of misogynists. If I thought that were true, I'd be out in a heartbeat.

Then we have this little nugget at the end, referring to a blogburst that yours truly was involved in:

And they have mounted fierce public-relations campaigns against government programs that later wound up being axed or downsized, including the Court Challenges Program -- a fund that paid for legal challenges that won new rights for women, minorities, the disabled, and gays and lesbians since the 1970s.

Again, a tinge of bias. On one hand it gives us an appearance of holding tremendous power, but I have to doubt that Ottawa is sitting around making policy decisions based on the ramblings of a few bathrobed bloggers. But then again, you never know. Maybe we could get consulting fees?

I blogged for both sides of it, and cough cough CTV ignored that.

Peter was stupid to call her that, but she cannot demand she is a "women" and "respect me" because she does not respect other women.

conspiracy who said that hmmm mac, hows the wife?

can we use her left over cast to beat the msm with?

I actually had a good sleep last night then I wake up to one hell of a story with pussy in it. wow Jo I think you are rubbing off on me lol...

Sara, I was going to tell you to wash your mouth out with soap until I read your post!

Rick Mercer should do a bit showing some Liberal party hack signing up dogs as delegates. Peter would come on and parody his own wounded lover routine, only it turns out he is pining over his disloyal dog going to the Liberal convention...

Joanne (True Blue) said...

L.S. - Funny about Mercer. ;)

This is perfect fodder for Air Farce too!

I have blogged about this as well. I doubt Peter ever said that. Even if he did , it was the fiberals who said the word dog. I get my marching orders from no one.
Belinda a dog?

Mac said...

She's improving, Sara... thanks for asking!! I caught her attempting to operate the vaccuum cleaner one-handed today. Like I said... not a great patient...

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Mac - Clearly I have missed something here. What happened to your wife?

What gets me Joanne, is that Cons all say they are for women's equality yet you see nothing wrong with being called a dog.
You have also (wrongly again) gone on about Madonna.
Could it be that women are only equal if they fall into the role of a 50's housewife?

I'd expect better from MacKay - why not admit the quip and move on?
I do wonder about Dr Roy at times - it's as if you are giving approval to that. Roy Eappen is fine gentleman, really caring although a little like a fish out of water at times socially - does he really find it acceptable that we call women dogs?
BTW, that was a sweet gesture when you bough the Dawson bracelets at the Open House... Odd that we are so opposed yet travel in the same circles at times...

Huh?

Joanne, this was about Dr Roy - some of us anonymous bloggers do have a social life and go out...

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Well, "Anonymous", that is awfully close to a personal attack. Perhaps if you identified yourself with a little more detail it wouldn't look quite so cowardly.

Roy Eappen said...

I can guess who anonymous is. I was doing some volunteer work at my College Alma Mater and I bought 10 breacelets to honour the young girl that was killed at Dawson. I don't believe we can call anyone names, but there is a double standard. Belinda not all women could be called much worse. This is the context of a broken relationship. I don't even believ it was said.
Anonymous if you read my blog you can see my social life is extremely full.

Nothing too serious, Joanne. She was driving around a corner when the car ahead of her slammed on the brakes because another car blew a red light. She was too close and hit the car ahead of her but only at a crawl... but his trailer hitch hit right on the sensor for her airbags. She had the steering wheel turned which put her left arm across the airbag so when it blew, it broke her arm. To add insult to injury, it was her left arm and she's left-handed. So she's off work for a couple of weeks until she's healed up and I get double-duty at home.

This really cuts into my computer time!!

I read your blog on occasion.
I can't say I really agree with much of what you write.

Belinda may not have the highest standards or morals - and Peter should of just admitted to the name-calling and the whole thing would be over by now.

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Anon - I assume you're responding to Dr. Roy, however don't forget that Peter never actually said the word 'dog'. It was the Liberal (David McGuinty?) who started it. How do you know he wasn't referring to Belinda too? ;)
