Stop it Dalton - you're killing me!

The Premier of Ontario is not happy with billboards displaying cigarette ads on highways around the Six Nations reserve near Caledonia.

On the CTV website Dalton MCGuinty demonstrates that he has had enough! (*cue ominous background music*):

Premier Dalton McGuinty says Ontario's Ministry of Transportation is taking a look to see if the signs violate a provincial ban on tobacco advertising.

And he says if the billboards break the law, then the ministry "will be taking action.''

Oh, pull-eeze, Dalton! Ho-ho!! Ha-ha!! Tee-hee!!

Oh, but wait! There's more!! Dalton supports Character development, and values, like honesty!! (H/T Sara).

I can't take anymore.

Update: Eric at Diogenes Borealis has a great take on McGuinty's character initative - "Ontario provides character for the masses". Very thought-provoking.

Wednesday Update: Steve Janke weighs in on the smoke signs with "Cigarette advertising and Dalton McGuinty's priorities.

there's a commentary in the National Post which you've probably know about, I'll be adding
a post later on. The worst part of all this is the coverage the media has given. While tory bloggers have been watching this, we don't have the resources of the MSM and they couldn't care less. But we do know about the property that the Gov't. has bought for these people
and the millions they've paided out

ST - Thanks. I'll be checking your post later. I haven't had time to read that article in the NP yet because of the blogburst, but I'm looking forward to it.

My God. Hysterical on so many levels.

Notice McGuinty's not going to do anything about the billboards himself; he's asking Tony Clement to do his heavy lifting for him.

Not that Tories aren't used to doing that for Liberals.

Nothing like having one's priorities sorted out is there?

Joanne (True Blue) said...

PGP - Yeah, I can just see him now - "I'll show those dang natives whose boss. That's it. I'm not lighting their smokes anymore! They can darn well do it for themselves".

What will the "conservatives" do to to end the war on consumer choice though? That is the question!
