Poor Stéphane

The Leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Party of Abstention may have to continue ducking votes.

* * * *

Update
: I wonder how the Liberals will vote on this one!

CTV - Budget bill would resolve RESP impasse: Flaherty.

And here's a shock (not): Grits won't bring down Tories over Climate Change - CNews.

Via Dr. Roy - Star: Dion undermined by his reticence.

Tuesday Update - Steve Janke: That green scarf takes on a distinctly yellowish hue.

What seems clear to me is that Canadians aren't impressed with any of the choices in Ottawa.

I understand that you're a partisan Conservative but I wouldn't gloat if I were you. In fact, that's probably good advice for the government itself.

Although I don't feel that Harper has done a terrible job ( he got my vote last time ), I don't feel he's done a great one either.

I think an awful lot of Canadians feel the same way. At least that's the sense I get from my own family, friends and former colleagues.

I don't pay alot of attention to Ottawa these days but the whole Dion bashing thing ( although he seems to be an easy target ) makes me suspicious.

It's been my experience ( I'm pushing 80 ) that those who spent alot of time seeking to destroy others don't have much to offer themselves.

I honestly don't know if this is the case with Harper's crew or not. But, they should watch it. I think Canadians get tired of all the mudslinging. I'm not only accusing the Conservatives of that crime!

Finally, I think Mr. Harper would better serve his interests and those of Canadians if he told us why HE was a good leader instead of why Mr. Dion is not. Thanks.

Yours - Mr. Harold Miller, Toronto

Um...Joanne. It's that "Stefan" Dion?

I think you must have him confused with Stephen? Stephen who?

Have you been drinking?

Last I checked Mr. Miller Canadians indeed were impressed with a minority Conservative choice...that happened as a result of the last federal election.

Trouble is that the Liberals can't quite understand that and are still wringing that crying towel.

Worse, they're a horrible opposition.

I do believe Harper has accomplished in two years what the Liberals never did in what? 13?

The Liberals and Dion are self-destructing - they've needed little help.

The mudslinging started with the Liberals. They seem to be able to dish it out, but can't take it.

If you'd like to see a list of Harper's accomplishments Sandy Crux has a nice list compiled at Crux of the Matter.

How's this - for the time being Stephen Harper is everything Mr. Dion is not.

That's working out for many Canadians. Clearly not the screw-up the MSM and pollsters had us believing ahead of the last election, eh?

Other that 'Dion is not a leader' what mudslinging have the Conservatives done?
There is a threat of a libel suit against the Libs, not the reverse.

'Dion is not a leader' is chanted by the Libs everyday, it's more stating the obvious than attacking.

Recent polls have been proven to overstate Liberal support. (Outremount, Alberta)
Next week will be a good indicator.
If Cons % of the vote is up from 2006, in the 4 bi-elections, all Liberal seats,
I think it will be safe to say, Oct 2009 for the next general election.

Clearly whatever she's been drinking it's not as intoxicating as what you've been drinking.

I hope Mssr. Dion is not your MP because if you wanted to vote for him you wouldn't be able to find him on the ballot if you can't spell his name correctly.

you might have taken a closer look at that poll before referencing it.

the swing in ontario is massive. this poll has the libs @ 41 % while the cons lag behind @ 30%. Ipsos gave the cons a nice lead in their last poll.

what's worse, the libs are ahead of the cosn in quebec also.

given that harper can't win anymore seats in alberta and that atlantic canada is a write-off, please explain how harper can improve upon his current seat count?

these numbers, from con-friendly ipsos, suggest that a lib minority is possible.

Then Dion should take down the government, non?

Why is Dion saying this PMB will be part of his election platform. Is he admitting that the senate will not pass it.
When was this bill first brought to the HofC, he says it has been around for 2 years.
If liberal senators vote this bill down because of cost ect, how can Dion say it is a good bill.

The Liberals could be between a rock and a hard place if they are forced to finally make a decision about this bill in a budget implementation vote as Flaherty as suggested will happen.

Will they abstain on this too?

The Liberals did this successfully for many years. They believe it's what you must do to win, because winning is everything.

The CPC has come late to the party, but they've certainly learned the partisan ropes quickly.

I thought I was the only one to drink and blog at the same time.

Do we really need 4 more liberal MPs to sit on their hands, or be AWOL, and get their paycheque for doing nothing. Voters should really think about that March 17.
But, maybe they will be the only ones to show up. What a way for Rae to embarass Dion.
