Cabinet Changes

You can get the list from Joel at Proud to Be Canadian.

My only disappointment is that Diane Ablonczy appears to have been overlooked again.

Very happy about John Baird in Environment though. I think he should do well.

More at Stephen Taylor.

I don't quite understand the shunning of Diane Ablonczy either. Is there some personal friction between her and the PM? I wonder.

Having a overbearing, blusterous windbag heading the portfolio of Environment seems apropos.
Baird will huff and he'll puff and he'll blowwwww all our global warming fears away.

I wanted Ambrose in the Social Devel. position,, and Diana somewhere too!

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Yeah, Sara, I just don't get that about Diane. Must be some issue there.

A larger cabinet -- now with less women! Great move...

Less women? Who's out?

I don't understand how Albonczy got left out. Perhaps there was just too many from Alberta and Harper didn't want to drop Ambrose.

Ambrose will be do well in intergovernmental affairs. It's where she should have been the whole time.

Joanne -- The size of cabinet has increased from 27 to 32 positions, with a smaller percentage of women on the team. Do the math.

I think it's really important to keep Ambrose in the Cabinet. I was really surprised at how much support the NDP was getting here (in Edmonton) around the University area in the last election, because of their promise of lower tuition fees.....so, to keep a young smart woman in the cabinet like Rona, is a good move. Besides, she's a good worker, and very talented (five languages if I remember correctly), experienced, and very smart.

Ablonczy....I just think it had to be a political decision, no specific issue against her. There are enough members of the Cabinet from Alberta. Any more would totally alienate the east, from whence we need more votes.

The bigger news for me is the crossing of the floor of Wajid Khan...not just that he's crossing the floor, but the "why"....because of the Conservative "Principles"....he he he....guess he didn't think the liberal principles measured up....or even measured....what are the liberal principles again??? Do they even know themselves? How can people vote for a party that doesn't know what it stands for???

Really, Johanne, are all those exclamation marks necessary?

;)

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Yes, that's probably true about Diane Ablonczy; too much western representation. Too bad.

Vicki, thanks for answering RT for me. Sometimes I get weary from his nattering.

Laroche - Funny. BTW, what's with this "Johanne" thing? Is that your pet name for me? ;) At first I thought it was a typo, but I'm seeing a pattern here.

Joanne!!! This is your blog!!!

Thank you for reminding me about that, Vicki. Yes, too often I indulge Red with a reply when ignoring him would save everyone a lot of frustration.

In Kate's words, "Clearly this is a big news story and should have dominated the day's events."
