Steffi's Imaginary Friend

Dust My Broom has discovered a profile from the Globe that could shed some light on Stephane Dion's inability to remember certain important events, such as anything at all to do with Adscam and more recently the alleged plan to expand production in the Alberta oilsands under his watch as Environment Minister during the Martin government.

We hear stories about great times spent with a neighbour who says he never did any of the things Dion so fondly remembers; and dead dog jokes (the latter to prove he has a sense of humour).

Is this the guy you want for your Prime Minister? I can just see it now:

"What terrorist attack? I didn't see one. I'm going to walk Kyoto now. Au revoir."

* * * *

Monday Update: Steffi is savaged by schoolyard bullies Ezra Levant (Dion Easy Target) and Paul Jackson (Dion Diaster Looms).

More at SDA - Canada's Answer to Al Gore.

PMSH says make my day...

True North - It Never Happened... (Stephane may be in denial over what he did or didn't do as Environment Minister).

I find it rather interesting that this appeared in the Globe and Mail. Anyone care to speculate about whether we'll ever see this gem of info in staunchly partisan Liberal blogs, like, oh say, for example, Jason Cherniak's blog?

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Frankly, I'm surprised that the Globe went to these lengths. Maybe they're starting to realize that they'd better consider the possibility that the Natural Governing Party still needs a bit of adjustment.

jeff davidson said...

it was a 12 page article and contained much more than the little fluffy bit that's amusing so many conservative types.

btw, what's with the "steffi" bit?

Anonymous said...

Joanne... you didn't mention the part where Steffi really went off the rails.

When he appeared on the Télé-Québec public affairs show Les Francs-tireurs last fall, interviewer Patrick Lagacé asked him to prove that he has a sense of humour.

Steffi? That's the flip side of Crettin's line ":May I call you Steve, like your frind George W.?"

Dion's non-existent frineds all call him Steffi. Or are you out of the loop? Odd that, though, isn't it?

Crettin brought Steffi into government, as a Cabinet Minister (Unelected) if I recall.

Seems that Johnny Crettin talked to all sorts of "homeless types," that never exizted neither, as it turns out. And we saw what kind of government HE and Martin gave us, didn't we, babes?

Exactement. Merci, TJ.

Seems that Tango Juliette has been practicing his typos. He wants to be able to qualify for the upcoming Librano leadership race by dummying down, babes.

BTW: What's with this Volpe appointment? Opposition Critic of Transportation?

Just exactly what sort of transportation does Steffi think Joey can handle?

Oh yes. Childrens' School Busses!

And Hearses for the Deade Voters of Canada!

And Trucks for the transport of Cowboys, to round up all them Piggy Banks!

And Limo rides for $300 pizzas in Buffalo NY.

Uh-yupp! That'll be the winning ticket, all right !!

To jeff davidson - I for one never said that I found that bit of embaressing (to Mr Dion) info amusing (and I'm not now saying that I thought you WERE specifying anyone in particular), only that it is interesting. I rarely read the G&M, though, yes, it is available way out here in the sticks. But I do thank you for pointing out that the info was part of a 12 page article. To me, that just makes it all the more interesting that the G&M would include it. If they hadn't I doubt if too many people would been made wise about this little gem, excuse me, fluffy bit. I know I wouldn't. And, I do doubt if it will ever see the light of day on some of our friendly neighbourhood Liberal blogs.

Ah, Vicki, if I may call you Vicki:

I think that Sask stubble-jumpin' plow-boy idol, Ralphie Gee had to extricate his hand from out of the dummy's backside, so's farming ventriloquist Ralph, 1932 Stooking And Arrogance Champeen of Regina (Wascana Slough Div.), could actually use said hand to pick his nose with.

That's the only way I figger that Steffi Dee coulda got this piffle out past the GeeRolfster! I thimk that that's how this thing tinkled down, the way these things usually do. I think so, anyway.

BTW, & 4 whut it's worth: I call my pet sloth "Bam! - Lousy Joke of an Over Priced Useless Boondoggle of a Gormless Gun Registry."

HEY! I laugh at Beer Keg Scutt Greed's typically monotonous Sunday Harper-slam in the *Tor*Red*star*on-the-Don. He's slipping though. He left out the standard "...ah'murkin-style George Dubya kinda of whatever the heck sorta scares ya..." Guess that's the sort of fuzzee thinkin' what happens to you when you skip Guidance classes in High School.

AND I'm still on the floor about Red Tory flaking out, BUT I'm truly pumped about these fantasy friends the Libranos like to conjure up.

Maybe, and this could probably save a lot of grief in Canada, just maybe, if these Librano Phantasias up and went on over to Af'stan, and smacked a coupla real good ones on those Taliban pals of Jack-Ohboy!

Wowee! That idea's just so fine and gene-yuss that I recon I think I'll go on up to Bytown and apply for the future post of Liebranoid Minister of Spectral Hallucinatory Defence.

And now -- eh bien, les enfants ~ maintenant - fait une bon do-do,pour mois, h'okay-la?

I think Dion was one of those kids that had their glass' held together by a bandaid, was teased a lot, and now he figures he's on the cusp of revenge.

Like all good little meglomaniacs, he'll be just inch's from power, and someone will pop a balloon at a public event he's attending, and he'll be so startled the press will catch him wetting his pants on national TV.

Joanne (True Blue) said...

JC - Yeah. I don't see him being a deceptive person, but he sure does lack something. Perhaps it is the lack of emotional intelligence, which is mentioned in the article.

He is highly intelligent, but if he doesn't have the ability to assess and relate to his audience, then he may very well be doomed.

You see this type of person so often in business. They are eggheads, usually just out of university with all these idealistic points of view, but can't relate at all to the business world. In particular they don't have a clue how to manage people.

Usually a person will acquire some kind of emotional intelligence as time goes on, but I don't know about Steffi. I can see him more as a professor.

Thanks, JC. I'll go check it out. BTW, my last remark should be that I can see him more as a professor again, i.e. he should get out of politics and go back to teaching.

Maybe the Canadian public will make that decision for him.

When Harper does it, you call him calculating....
What is the difference here?

Yes, this is really a stretch, but that was funny, all the remarks about bandaids on glasses and bookworm and stuff and I thought it wasn't a tory blog at all, I didn't know which party leader yous were talking about! Ah to have old 'punch protestors in the face' Chretien back again! Face it people, if you're looking for charisma you won't find it in the political arena. Just wait til the debates, I wonder which bookworm will start growing mold first. They should have Elizabeth May there just for some interest.

But go read the article, the 'meeting' was on January 26, that's TWO DAYS before the election. Now how much notice do you think a running candidate who is two days from an election going to know about this?

Besides, 'Department of the Environment' at a meeting to discuss increasing oil exports? Are you kidding me? Part of the deal with the oil sands is the feds keep there hands off. Canada has a worse environmental record than the US. The feds keep out of the environment and keep the Lubicons jumping through hoops and distract the UN when it calls canada a human rights abuser.

Get with the game people.

Anon... I happen to think that Paul Martin was a very personalbe guy... Course he turned out to be a putz, but then my mother always told me I had poor choice in friends.

Then I found Harper, and I found God... just kidding.

I actually like Harper though, I've met him on several occasions, being my MP, and he's actually funny as hell. His humor is just dry.

Maybe if Stephane Dion could speak English, I'd find him funny too. Oh wait, I already find him funny cause' of his english.

IMO Dion is already overdone toast on his way to the kitchen trash bag.
An embarrassment even the likes of Kinsella will be hard pressed to support. Actually WK already seems to be reaching for ways to spin this guy.

At least Dion isn't dumb, he's smart enough to know that Quebecers are smart enough to know they'll want Alberta's oil money. And to know that there isn't a hope in hell of winning a seat out west. Those comments are all for the folks back east.

I had to laugh at the article though, where it says 'next story' is a story called "liberal kills feminism" at a site that next to it has a big picture of a chick in a bikini calling her the 'sunshine girl'. Oh the irony.

Is it just me or is the word 'promulgate' getting thrown around way too much nowadays by writers? Are we supposed to believe they didn't get it from their word of the day calendar?

Joanne (True Blue) said...

I thought it was pretty obvious. If a politician is nice to you, they want your vote. If they aren't nice to you, its because they want somebody else's vote.

Funny how that exact sentence is showing up on the blogsphere....

- Quebecers get less than many other provinces when it comes to payments.

- Please explain why Harper is shovelling the pork this way?

Quebec also gets more than many other places, more importantly, they also get the political perks mentioned at this blog- hands off their agricultural markets, and plenty of funding for R&D and pharmaceuticals and universities.

Most the maritimes gets 'money', but unlike the rest of canada, they don't get 'investment'. They get enough to educate kids who will then have to move to other places to find work in provinces that enjoy the labour without the expense of paying for it's education, and then they move back home to retire and sponge off the medicare system.

Quebec gets both, the best of both worlds. That's no shame on them, hell, anybody would do it if they could get away with it. I'm no political....anything, but it seems fairly obvious that Harper is kissing Quebec's ass for the same reason he kisses everybody's ass-he wants their vote.

Strategically they probably know they aren't going to make any further inroads in Ontario, and Quebec is the only other place that has representation in any numbers.

Dion may be saying those agricultural markets in Quebec are sacrosanct, but I certainly don't remember Harper ever mentioning them either, but maybe he did. I hear lots about tearing down the wheat board, that's because they know they have the numbers in those provinces, a few thousand farmers won't make any difference, and if anything they'd vote NDP, and not in enough numbers to win ridings.

If he's mentioned tearing down Quebec's supply management system I've never seen it, you KNOW that he's going to, but he'll wait for the WTO to do that and he's certainly not going to talk about it any more than absolutely necessary. For the same reason they're trying to ignore Caledonia-as Kim Campbell's only famous quote says "an election is no time to talk about the issues".

As for that Wurlitzer dear Red-Flake Tory, I pressed Z-29, just for your benefit.

Recognize that Funereal Dirge, do you?

Slither on back into your hole for keeps pal, 'cause my dictionary, and my memory, both cite Mr.Milquetoast as a Cartoon Character; a wee and timid mousey creature. The longer you keep your head down RT, the less the world will learn of your absolute lack of knowledge on oh so many issues, and the less we shall have to laugh at what is clearly your totally unwarranted, delusional and ill-founded sense of false snotty aloofness, unsubstantiated arrogance and undeserved sense superiority.

Jest don't make no sense to bother with the struttin', if'n you jest all blow, an' you really ain't got nuttin'.
