Just do it, Cam!!

O.K. This story could resurrect my interest in the upcoming Ontario election - Cam Eyes Political Highway.

It seems that the Ontario Progressive Conservative party has asked OPP Sgt. Cam Woolley to consider running in the fall provincial election. Cam is seriously considering the option:

"I kind of expected to finish my career as a police officer, but with recent developments, this might be another way to serve the public and improve public safety."

'Recent developments' being this.

Joan Tintor is obviously not a big Cam fan, from what I have read. I will be looking forward to her take on this.

Personally, I think this would be awesome. A candidate with Cam's personality and experience could really add some zing to the party and to the election in general.

Go for it, Cam!

I want a better Ontario.

* * * *

Update: Something tells me Cam wouldn't be the type of guy to find new curtains a huge provincial priority. I wonder how many eye exams those new drapes could have covered...

That would have helped the highway safety cause.

* * * *

Wow! Joan Tintor has weighed in on this now - Ontario PCs smart to approach Woolley.

Hi Jo...Cam would be a great addition in Provincial politics and his inside knowledge of our police operations would be helpful in assisting with the growing crime rate in the GTA.

Looking forward to the next Provincial election. John Tory has done a great job of recruiting some excellent candidates.

That's great, Gerry! It sounds as if John Tory will give Dalton a challenging run for our money.

Wolley is hated by most truck drivers in the province over his handling of the "flying truck tire" issue a couple of years ago(truck tire seperations have been going on as long as there have been trucks,and cars for that matter).He made the situation out to be a whole new problem exclusive to trucks in Ontario, but we had the second safest roads in N.America at the time.The safety increases that followed where welcome, but could have been done without fear mongering and telling half truths.I think he would lose us votes in a provincial election. Al Paladini was transport minister and was only saved the wrath of disgruntled trucker votes because of his sunny personality and connection with the trucking industry(Paladini Ford Truck Sales)He was considered to be on the truckers side.Wooley is considered by truckers to be an ignorant laughing stock being the butt of jokes that ridicule his behavior.You may discount the truckers vote but keep in mind over 200,000 truckers vote heavily conservative. I am in favour of Tory building a strong team, but I also know a polarizing figure when I see one, and Wooley does exactly what we accuse the Liberals and NDP of every day.

Boy, lots of differing opinion on this one! Cam Woolley seems to have a few enemies.

Vicki, I sympathize with you. It's hard to find any party that looks better than the present government. I just think McGuinty is a poor leader.

BTW, I blew away Anon's comment due to attitude. He/she is welcome to add to the conversation minus the snide remarks. I'm sick of this blog being highjacked by sarcastic trolls.

Fantino would have been the better catch. Plus he would have taken a TO riding away. Wolley seems more like John Tory's silver medal.
