Thomas Mulcair - Lots of style; little substance - Updated

Tuesday afternoon update: MacEachen office denies he urged bail for Schreiber - Chronicle Herald. (H/T National Newswatch).

Mr. Mulcair’s comments in the House are protected by parliamentary privilege from libel actions. When asked outside the House to comment on his mention of Mr. MacEachen, Mr. Mulcair instead discussed the nature of the public inquiry into the relationship between Mr. Schreiber and Mr. Mulroney.

I'm getting sick of this garbage - Say anything you want in the House; then obfuscate outside. No wonder people are getting turned off politics and not bothering to vote.

* * * *

I was really hoping someone else would pick up on this, but since I don't see a post in Blogging Tories, I will proceed.

On MDL tonight, Duff interviews Environment Minister John Baird and discusses the 'nasty' atmosphere in Question Period.

The ever-pompous Thomas Mulcair was shown in a clip, right after Dion. He rants for a while, and then says this:

"...We're talking about the greatest ecological crisis the world has ever faced. All of the scientists that have looked at this issue agree with it..."

All of the scientists???? There are no opposing scientific views? I had no idea.

Or is exaggeration also covered by 'Parliamentary immunity'?

Tuesday - Exact quote from Hansard now available:

Mr. Speaker, we do not have hard targets. We do have aspirational goals, as in the void, the vacuum, created by the vacuous statements of that irresponsible government. We are talking about the greatest ecological crisis the world has ever faced. All of the scientists who have looked at this issue agree with it.

Tuesday Update: Last night on MDL, Duff made some reference to Elizabeth May and Hitler. That is explained here at AGWN.

Mulcair is correct that every scientist that looked at this. Anybody else that studied it in detail has not come to the same conclusion as his socialist buds. (real conservative)

Then there was Mulcair's drive-by smear campaign regarding Allan MacEachen.

Parliamentary Privilege certainly does cover exaggeration... also rank stupidity, willful ignorance, moronic drooling and blatant lunacy!

Has to ... otherwise all the Liberals and Dippers would have to sit there with their pie holes shut!

With their over the top language, virulent epithets and vein-popping anger, I thought I'd look for anagrams for these honourable members' names:

'Thomas Mulcair' anagrams to 'Ultra machismo.' Jack Layton had better watch his back, 'cause Tommy has that hungry look in his eye.

Bernard Bigras anagrams to ‘A Barbs Grinder.’ This guy is a stroke or heart attack waiting to happen. Talk about anger management issues ...

And David McGuinty? Well, whenever I see him sitting behind a speaker during QP, I see him constantly nodding in agreement, so 'Bobble head' seems appropriate. No anagram for you, David!

I agree with Gabby re: Layton watching his back. Mulcair seems much more edgy and a much better speaker than is Layton...but can he play the guitar?

Re: David McGuinty - I couldn't believe his line of questions yesterday when his own brother contributed to global warming by spewing all kinds of hot air about closing coal plants....ooops another promise not kept. Too bad Baird didn't pull that retort out of his hat?

Gabby - Your Mulcair anagram is hilarious!

Re: David McGuinty - Bobblehead is great. I also get a kick out of his constantly furled brow. Does he go to bed at night like that? Maybe he needs some botox.

Joanne, thanks, but I can't take the credit for the anagrams - I'm not that creative. There's a number of anagram generators on line ...

As for McGuinty's brow, you're right. He always looks Sooo concerned ....

Now you tell me! lol! I just spent 15 minutes trying to do one for Dion and came up dry.

Gabby in QC said...

Sorry about that, Joanne! Here are the two free generators I used:

http://wordsmith.org/anagram/

But looking for an anagram WAS my idea. Am I forgiven?

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Thanks, Gabby. You're forgiven.

This will be fun...

Just tried it and "Stephane Dion" anagrams to "Phoniest Dean"

To Kevron - Forever.

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Hey, thanks, Jad. That's quite apropos, considering his ivy league background and all! ;)

Another Liberal MP falls for the new McCarthyism.

Mulcair is my MP now. I have called his office several times and no one has called back. I will keep calling until I speak to him. This is a pretty bad to start in the house.

Yeah, I actually hesitated to write this post because it is to the CPC's advantage to have the NDP taking seats away from the LPC and the Bloc in Quebec.

However, I think they all need a good smack on the head regarding civility in the House.

The Schreiber affair is only an extension of the Gong-Show going on in Question Period.
