Ontario Budget Tabled

Ontario Finance Minister Greg Sorbara has delivered the Ontario Liberal pre-election budget.

As the National Post notes, there is no across-the-board tax relief. The various measures for low-income families appear to be designed to lure soft left voters.

Since the Ontario budget seems to be highly dependent on the recently announced Federal budget, I find it extremely ironic that Liberal MP David McGuinty will be voting against the very set of bills that is so crucial to his brother Dalton's political future.

Too much to keep track of these days. Wow! I'm glad you're on top of this one. I am also glad that seniors (like my husband and I) can split income for Ontario tax as well. That would have been the pits if they hadn't done that. What I really want is MY HEALTH TAX BACK! That wasn't supposed to be permanent. Yea right.

Irony is right!
But it could be just farce.....

I guess it depends on how serious you are about what these clowns of the McGuinty clan say.

Both budgets were alright, there's nothing to get worked up over here.

Ontario is out of deficit and we can all breath a little easier.

Zac, good point.

I suppose the Bloc would still support the Federal budget even if the PQ won the Quebec election (which I sure hope they don't!)

I pity David McGuinty. His heart and his mind and his loyalties are pulled in two directions at once. Apparently, this is what psychologists call "congitive dissonance." It must be positively painful for him.

Of course the Bloc will still support the cash for Quebec! How can they NOT?

Yes, I suppose it would be pretty hard to look that gift-horse in the mouth, no matter who wins the Quebec election.

If the PQ did win though, would that not make the Bloc somewhat irrelevant - especially if Quebec did one day separate? I know the chances are very low at this stage, but it would seem to me that they would have to kiss off those lovely MP salaries.

Canadians are afraid that if their neighbours are allowed to keep the money they earn, then the government won't be able to tell them what to do.

Yeah, that's gotta be it.

Thanks for your insight.
