Ontario Attorney-General Michael Bryant:
...Worse, Mr. Bryant states, the Liberals have "very little substance to offer by way of alternative, and certainly nothing new or effective. The typical federal Liberal approach to crime, in a word, is a boomer approach that is stuck in the summer of love."
As a result, Mr. Bryant argues, "Crime is for Liberals what the environment is for Conservatives."
If nothing else, I think Michael Bryant could have a great career as a political columnist if the Attorney-General thing doesn't work out.

""While the Liberals argue that they are "smart on crime" by pursuing the root causes of antisocial behaviour, Mr. Bryant's paper argues that such a position has little traction with voters.""
"Being smart on crime is dumb politically if there are no wedges and little substance......."
Yep really, really smart! Can't you tell by the all the success in maintaining public safety?
Speaking of Liberal fantasies......

Is Bryant the monster that wanted a holocaust against pitbulls?

As I sit here thunderstruck, watching the Liberal Attorney-General channeling Charlton Heston, I start to recognise the sickly sweet smell permeating the air all around me.
It smells like... surrender.

oanne..is that all it would take? I know Tory hasn't come up with any real substance yet,but think...Dalton...again?...???
Vicki, it kinda makes me look like a cheap date, eh?

Yet another reason to like him!
PGP, I checked out that link but it's not accessible. What was the title? Thanks.
It is ironic that Bryant is saying these things NOT because it is good policy to fight crime, but because it might increase the Liberal chances of winning an election.
Don't be fooled Joanne.
It is all about perception with Liberals, never substance.
"It is all about perception with Liberals, never substance."
That is true of all political parties, except ones you will never hear of.

Oh, I know that. And that is why I'm thinking about supporting the Ontario Liberals. It will help the CPC, ironically.
Apologies Joanne re the bad link...was the hill times via NAtional Newswatch.
Cant retrieve or relocate it now!
Shucks....In a nutshell!
Garth predicts election !
And gets a smoked by Jay Hill...
"Garth Turner says a lot of things. I don't know how he would know this [the timing of the election] unless the Liberals intend to pull us down. I think that perhaps the tin foil hat's a little tight on his head," Mr. Hill told The Hill Times. ....""
I think the liberals will win the next Ontario provincial election. PC leader, John Tory has been a disapointment and is trying too hard to be like Bill Davis.
PGP - I heard that one! lol!!
Poor Garth.
Anon - Re: Tory. Agreed.
He really needs to rev it up a bit.
But urban legend has it that Ontario prefers to have one party in Ottawa and the opposite in Queen's Park.
Hence I'm rooting for the Liberals provincially. It would be good to have a change of leadership however, but that ain't gonna happen if they win.
Lawyers, criminals, judges - are all overwhelmingly Liberal Party supporters.
"Lawyers, criminals, judges - are all overwhelmingly Liberal Party supporters."
And why is that, drive-by anon?
Is there even one redeeming quality of the Liberal Party?
Nope.
Is there even one redeeming quality of the Liberal Party?
Tom Wappel, Irwin Cotler. That's two.
Lawyers, criminals, judges - are all overwhelmingly Liberal Party supporters.
As a criminal, let me say that I fully support the Liberal Party of Canada.
Zac
Tom Wappel
You want him, take him. He's all yours. In fact, Joanne, I'll sweaten the deal. Take Wappel and I'll drive to Waterloo in the summer time and cut your lawn in a speedo while singing Duran Duran. Deal?

Mmm.. Would that 'sweeten' or 'sweaten' the deal? I'll have to give that some thought, Zac.
;)
My poor spelling should pave the way for me to my awesome future in lawn maintenance.
Zac
Aw, I was just kidding you, Zac!
How's the new career going, BTW? Are you heavily into politics?
Not really. I'm finishing up this school year then Im off to Africa to do relief work in the summer time and then graduate school when I get back so I don't have too much time for politics anymore. Just enough time to bother you :)
Zac
Just enough time to bother you :)
Ah, that's good, Zac. It always makes me happy to see a young person with their priorities straight.
I sure hope you bother me from Africa in the summer too. ;)
