Overheard at the store

I love people watching; especially parents with small kids. You just never know what's going pop out of their precious little mouths next.

This morning I was in the bathing suit section of a local department store. It was one of those frenetic "half-price sale until 11 a.m." deals where everyone runs around like crazy gathering up as many garments as possible to try on and then do your best to get into the line in time to pay before the time is up.

Anyway, I was busy checking out various suits that might possibly disguise my *ahem* barely noticeable amount of excess natural padding in all the wrong places, when I happened to see a late thirties-looking Mom and her daughter of around five or so.

Mom was checking out a gorgeous red two-piece with the plunging neckline; the kind of thing I never consider, even though she wasn't far behind me in the weight department.

As I reached for a tummy tamer one-piece, I heard the little girl yell, "Mommy, that bathing suit is not for your age!"

Quiet chuckles could be heard all around.

Its funny when kids speak the truth.

A couple years ago I was in a restaurant in Ottawa and the woman at the table beside me had her two kids with her.

She said in a way which made me thing she was a Liberal cool-aid drinker:

"How would you guys like to go to Parliament Hill to see where Prime Minister Martin works?!"

Her son around 8 years old said; "Isn't he the man who stole all that money?"

As she tried to reply "no", her other son started chanting, "Thief! Thief! Tief!"

ha ha, I almost spit coke out my nose I was laughing so much!

There's no winning with kids. Years ago, I was grocery shopping with my daughter in tow. She was pre-school at the time.

An employee of the store waddled past. Seriously, he had to weigh 300 lbs plus. My daughter looked up at him, shook her little head and chirped "Fat, fat, fat!" in that piercingly loud voice which only little kids can manage.

I apologized but what can you do?

lol! Mac, that's priceless. It's funny how kids tend to say what everyone else just thinks. I love their honesty.

Yes, they're honest but do they have to be so loud about it?
