Will $32,400 be enough to buy off Caledonia residents?

From the Hamilton Spectator: Native group protests new development.

...Meanwhile, the Ontario government announced yesterday it was investing in the town's business retention and expansion plan. Agriculture Minister Leona Dombrowsky said the province will contribute $32,400 to the plan, which is being overseen by Haldimand County, the local chamber of commerce, the Grand Erie Business Centre and the Business Improvement Area. The plan will explore economic growth options for the area.

"The information collected from this study will help our community assess and identify new opportunities for local businesses," Suzanne Athanasiou, a chamber director, said in a statement.

New business opportunities, eh? Like how to relocate?

Or maybe a cricket tournament?

One thing for sure - I wouldn't want to be canvassing for the Liberal party in Caledonia this fall!

What an insult.

Two councillors left the first council neeting in six weeks for a photo op with the Liberal candidate a few days ago. Is tghis the payoff for their support?

Ever occur to you there may not be a choice because of legalities and the Treaties?

Also, when is Harper going to act on this? It's a Federal issue with respect to treaties etc.

If it's a Federal issue, why did McGuinty take it upon himself to use Ontario taxpayer money to purchase the land from the developer?

Swift, would you happen to have a link for that? Thanks.

Why did Harris "take it upon himself" to order the f'ing Indians out of the park? In either case, the feds are supposed to deal with the treaties and the province is left to deal with the day to day problems. We can argue about what actions are taken, but it seems the province is always left holding the bag.

The retarded here may now classify this as an anti-Harris rant, even though it is just pointing that the federal government continues to drop the ball and leave the mess to the province. The less partisan may note that it matters not what parties are in power, the problems remain and continue to show extremely slow progress.

Provinces are supposed to deal with law enforcement - not property acquisition.

BTW, I would have expected you to come up with a more P.C. term than 'retarded'.

When was it that McGuinty stated that his Government has a limit to its patience? Almost a year?

Yeah, they're really quaking in their boots McSpineless.

Well, if Harper would get off his butt and do something, maybe McGuinty wouldn't have to step in to try to move this issue along.

Damned if he doesn't get it moving and damned when he tries.
