So now religious themes are apparently as worrisome as profanity, violence and brief nudity. The Motion Picture Association of America is now trying to save face:
"...Joan Graves, chairman of the MPAA ratings board, contacted the Catholic League, admitting that she was the MPAA official who originally spoke to Fuhr. According to Graves, she told Fuhr that the PG rating was given to the movie, not for being overtly religious, but because of mature issues, e.g., depression, matters relating to pregnancy and sports-related violence..."
Actually, I found Disney's The Lion King quite violent, and I'm pretty sure there was a pregnancy in that movie.
Anyway, I'm not going to rant and rave about how we're all going to h-e-l-l in a handbasket. Nope, I think this is a wonderful turn of events. What kind of self-respecting kid would want to go to a G-rated movie anyway? This is providential because the movie is going to reach a far wider audience than it originally would have. God works in mysterious ways indeed.

Hel-lo, Jo-anne,
God actually made an appearance on my blog this morning. He commented on my yesterdays post. I thought seriously about deleting his ass, but I very much dislike having to moderate the comments. It's just sooo Big Brother.
I think the Rapture is pretty violent, isn't it? Might give the kids the willies at night... Their flesh being rended asunder by devils and all. People disappearing off the plantet. Last time I heard, Hell was kind of a nasty spot of business.
Can't have it both ways Joanne...

Omar, gotta hand it to the old guy, he did make a good case of why he should be laid off. Everyone needs a little time off. I hear Florida is nice this time of year.
Hel-lo, Om-mar.
You can't ban God. That would mean you would have to acknowledge that he exists. Just go hide under the covers.
Can't have it both ways Joanne Hey, I support the PG rating!
Hey, I support the PG rating!
Really? It sounded like a bit of a sarastic endorsement.
Zac, it was a very low budget production. They could never have afforded this kind of publicity!
The MPAA may be trying to set a precedent for movies featuring other faiths.
If it was movie about a Muslim coach, whose players' rallying cry is "die infidels" after the prayer huddle, and who has to deal with a couple of players that want to be martyrs when they "grow up", I would prefer that it not have a G rating.
L.S. - I thought of that too. Except that the methods of achieving the goal differ somewhat - prayer vs. beheading or bombing.
Omar, Zac and Joanne
Thanks for the laughs, you guys cracked me up.
Ironic, that Florida is supposedly nice this time of year and that is where Burtuzzi is headed...no?
And Zac...are YOU sure the old guy is a guy?
Just checking!
and that is where Burtuzzi is headed...no?
And they are lucky to have him. Personally, I'd prefer to see him in a Leaf's unifrom but what can you do. The canucks made the right decision.
And Zac...are YOU sure the old guy is a guy?
I don't particularly care what it is. Male, Female, some sort of hybrid, it doesn't matter to me that much. God could be a donkey for all I care.
In fact, that's a religion I think I could get behind.
All praise be to our high lord, the omnipotent, omnibenevolent, onmicient Donkey
ZAC SPICER,
THOU HAS FORSAKEN ME!!
HEL-LO, JO-ANNE!

Forgive all powerful Lord. Perhaps I could sacrifice some sinners to appease you.
I heard there were a large group of them trying to have a party on Church street this week. I'll start rounding them up and you prepare some lightening bolts.
Ummm, God? I just wanted to thank you again for that quick prayer response back when I was a teenager.
I didn't seriously think those twin sisters would be interested in a guy like me and I figured my prayer would get filed under "Wishful Thinking" in the Celestial Database but miracles happen, as you and the twins proved.
Wow. Thanks.
Ok, ok, dontcha think we've demonstrated convincingly to the fundamentalist islamists that we're allowed to be blasphemous?
Assuming everyone here is still able to comment tomorrow...
Speaking of hockey, what's with Buffalo having a player named SATAN !
Zac......the thought of you getting behind anything, gave me a case of the giggles. { Esp a donkey!!!}
Sorry my friend, I think i am still hung up on the sex 3 times saga.
Forgive me???
Omar, you are very clever indeed, or else you have major time on your hands.
teehee
in the lion king you should be happy

no abortion.
whoops
guess they werent married
O.K. everyone. That was fun, but the topic du jour is movie ratings. Comments related to the post are what will be approved. Maybe there won't be any, and that's o.k. :)
I didn't think anyone paid attention to movie ratings. Do they actually mean something?
Aren't the ratings standards set arbitrarily by a gaggle of greasy fingered odd smelling old men who spend their days hanging around in darkened theatres?
Ask yourself this: when they say "Two thumbs up" what (or rather- where) are those thumbs up?
Mac - Yeah, ratings probably don't sway too many people one way or the other. But the PG rating might actually help this movie at the box office. I guess that was my point.

Exactly right! Nothing brings up movie sales like a controversy.
I don't think the rating will make a difference, anyone can see a PG movie - at least I've never heard of people getting kicked out!
I haven't read anything I'm under strict rules to stay off puter today hubby's bday but Nicole told me about Zac's comment and I had one thing to say....
HEE HAW!!!!!
Sorry Jo but I had to!!!!!!!
Miss YAHS

And I let Sara's slip by because, well, it's her husbands' birthday, and well, maybe they'll go out tonight and take in a movie...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SARA'S HUSBAND!
Joanne, I think you will post this as well, as it has to do with movie ratings.
When you mentioned Sara may take her hubby to a movie, I have privy info that she is most likely to make HER own, and trust me, PG won't be in the title!
Well, Nicole, I guess Daddy needs a little attention. That's only fair. It's part of a good healthy marriage.
healthy marriage, the bugger just might kill me soon ,,, he's the energizer bunny for god sakes!!!
HEE HAW!!!!!
So what? I like the donkeys. From the front and the back, sometimes from the side. You know, however I can take it.
I'm sick of you Tories telling me how to live my life. Just another bunch of politicians try to legislate my ovaries! Geez!
Oh, and just to make sure this gets past the filter...I saw the movie Joanne, or well illegally downloaded it.
ok Zac sorry if the hee haw offended you it was funny.. you walked into it. You know the rules if you open up we dive in same as you to us... take it with a pinch of salt or pepper which ever you like...
I'm not trying to tell you to live your life, me personally I'm just debating and laughing with you not at you... well ok hee haw might of been aimed at you but I said it acting like a donkey get it lol... ok never mind me sooo sorry
Zac, you have also offended me. referring to me as one of those "Tories".
