Politics Watch is giving out the Parliament Hill report cards. It seems that the Conservatives did very well indeed, with an A-, and Prime Minister Stephen Harper was among those making the honour role this year! Congrats all around.
Check out the site to see who didn't make the grade, and who has to stay for summer school!
Hint: One of the summer school crew has to make up to the other poor boys and girls for his dubious schoolyard antics.

I think they were a little generous to the Grits - I would've flunked 'em. They have been an extremely weak opposition - especially given the minority government. I think they have been kind of creapy this session - like whenever John McCallum gets on TV, or Joe Volpe saying he is the most transparent of the bunch. Finally, I would have given the Dippers an A-. They have done a decent job considering they only have 29 seats.
Yes, they were too generous to the Grits for sure. I just can't take the Dippers seriously though. Although, you never know. Maybe they'll be the official opposition next time!
"The party (NDP) has also staked out clear positions on the major issues of the day, including Afghanistan. The party is now opposed to the mission because of the Canadian role in the counterinsurgency effort, so voters will know where they stand."
I do not think the NDP's position on Afghanistan is all that clear. They call for reverting to Canada's traditional role as peacekeeper, yet seemingly unaware that keeping the peace cannot be done if there are people intent on blowing up their opponents to kingdom come. But then the NDP turns around and demands Canada do something about Darfur, again seemingly unaware that Darfur is an even more dangerous place than Afghanistan.
"Also take points off for Harper's battle with the Press Gallery..."
The minus points should be for the Press Gallery, who have been in a major snit because Mr. Harper wouldn't let them call the shots. Introducing a little order and civility in press conferences was called for, but the press prefers to out-shout their colleagues to see who gets the PM's attention. Failing grade to the press.
I notice there is no-one on the summer school list for the Bloc. That's the one advantage of being a single issue party; no-one expects much outside of your single issue.
Gabby, good point about the Press Gallery. O.K. It's officially an "A" for the Conservatives.
Yes, I believe the Conservatives deserve high marks for their first few months in office. I will however borrow this analogy I heard or read; "they were like a hockey team playing against an opponent who didn't have a goalie".
I believe that to be a fair assessment.
O.K.Omar, now that's funny! (and probably true)
Politics watch loses its A for consistently misspelling "roll" as in "honour roll". It's a roll, like a roll of paper, not a role like an actor plays...
Politics Watch A- (I'm giving it softballs just like it gave the party in power)
The Liberals should really get a D.N.W (did not write), since they just needed to ensure there is no snap election, and give the Conservatives plenty of room, and hope they screw up.
L.S. Very good observations! You must be a teacher.
liberals are playing without a goalie and a coach and the Dipsticks are playing the wrong game.
I'll give them an "A" when they stop the "we haven't abandoned Kyoto" game and exposed it as the true fraud that it is
Unless "honour role" means someone of integrity to emulate...
x2para - Yeah, I can't take the Dippers seriously at all right now, which begs the question - what party would make a credible opposition?r
I'm ok with some of it but that sneaky 20% raise has got my fists a shakin,,,
You gotta know when to fold 'em? Well, it certainly isn't now! Do it now and the liberl hordes win. so do the braying mental lilliputians. ugh!

Tango, you probably meant for that comment to go with the latest post. But I hear ya. I'm not giving up on everything. Just the social issues. I've been beating my head against a brick wall, but the bricks are so dense, I'm wasting my time.
