Simmering on the Back Burner

As my blog description states, this is "a mélange of Canadian politics seasoned with a dash of real life", and the latter is requiring my attention right now.

Therefore, I am taking a brief hiatus, and postings will be sparse. Do not despair, dear readers. I will be back soon with more spicy tidbits to toss into that political hot-pot.

I'll leave you with this slice of real life:

My mother, as you may know, is one of my biggest fans and contributes regularly to this blog. A few days ago she was over and I gave her a huge pile of magazines I had finished reading.

While she was still there, I checked my mailbox and discovered three brand new issues of Time, Western Standard and Macleans. I was salivating at the sight of them. As Mom started leafing through the new arrivals, I promised that I would give them to her as soon as I had a chance to read them over.

She left shortly afterwards, and I decided to sit down with a cup of tea and check over my new magazines, but I could only locate one. I called her up to see if she had possibly grabbed the other two with the batch of recycled ones. It turned out that she did, and was very apologetic. I assured her that I could wait until she had read them, because I had so much other reading to catch up with.

Anyway, the next morning she showed up with the two missing issues, and handed them over to me. I told her that I could have waited until she was done with them.

"Oh, no!" she grinned. "We have to feed True Blue!"

Now I am truly blue as well.

Have a good hiatus, this darn new effective and honest government and that brilliant Mr. Harper make thin gruel for bloggers, LOL.
But hey, you still have McGuinty and crew so you have no excuse!
Come back soon.

lol! Ah, don't be sad Molar..

Yeah, Harper is awesome, but still lots of fodder in MSM. Some rags are trying to do all they can to criticize.

Harper is delivering on his promises! It's a strange concept. I don't think they've quite wrapped their heads around it yet.

McGuinty. Oh yes, he is in my sights. Him and the rest of his motley crew.

The Magazines were underneath the one you gave me so I guess I had picked up the whole pile in one fell swoop. True blue has always been true blue in my books, so she comes by it honestly. And being honest with courage is a rare quality now days. That is why I said we have to feed true blue because she is honest with her blog. She tries to be fair which is a rare quality in the MSM. She is a treasure to me and I hope a treasure to you because she is honest, fair and true.

real life detail that makes me happy:

sitting down to read with a cup of tea. is there anything more gratifying than a well made cup of tea?

Joanne (True Blue) said...

I'll be keeping an eye on comments here.

Matt - That's very kind, thanks!

CC - Ah, yes.. A well made cup of tea. Earl Grey, with a teasing hint of bergamot. It just doesn't get any better.

Off to see my IHCRS's (In-House Christian Rock Star's)third year tech project exhibition. This lad is a busy guy. Then he's off to the Toronto CD release party tonight, where they are expecting E.M.I. reps.

And my daughter's birthday is tomorrow!

Enjoy your break! I have been a regular visitor to your site for a few weeks; first-time poster. You are doing good work, so give yourself a pat on the back!

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Thanks, Soccermom! Please chime in any time you feel like it.

Derik - I rather liked Molar's "brash" statement!

Tarkwell Robotico said...

Derik,

its just a different, but legitimate perspective.

if you are a partisan conservative, Harper is not a new, unknown commodity.

we've known him a long time, many of us have met him personally.

so in the first 100 days, we see a style, skill and ambition that confirms are most optmistic hopes for him.

of course, anyone else would legitimately see it otherwise.

Blogging sure does suck the life energy sometimes, doesn't it?

Take a well deserved break and look after the other side of the fence, you'll find the time away is good for both.

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Brian - It's like giving birth - every day.

Hey hey Derik :D
I'm more than willing to give him 3 terms before we pass judgement.
That sounds like a wunnerful idea.

Hey Joanne,

I've been checking out you site daily and have truly enjoyed you viewpoint as they mirror mine very closely...my travels and what not have kept me from commenting as much as I'd have like to, but you've picked up quite a following.

I'm very proud of Prime Minister Harper and his honest and direct approach to all the issues he's faced so far...I'm also very proud to You dear friend for having created this thought very professional and thought provoking discussion site - you continue to amaze me, have a good hiatus...

Joanne, don't tell me that you actually read The Western Standard? I had you pinned as a very intelligent person and now you tell me that your huffing from the Ezra Levant bag?

Derik, your right...MM, 3 terms is 3 terms too many. Spring 2007, this government comes back to where it belongs.

Joanne, your brief hiatus means bad news for CC because I'm going to have to release my partisan fury somewhere, I guess it will have to be at Chucker's place.

Joanne (True Blue) said...

lol! Zac! Please go over to Calgary Grit! Even your presence would give support to my side. Yikes, they are a vindictive bunch.

Chucker always seems to enjoy you too.

I'm using this rest to get a little reading done, and some gardening, etc. Just taking it easy...

Western Standard is very pro-conservative for sure, but a good balance against Macleans. I read everything with the knowledge of their bias.

Zac said...

Well have fun, enjoy your rest. Hope to have you back soon.

I'll see what CG is up to.

I just had to say that the acronym "IHCRS's (In-House Christian Rock Star's)" had me giggling. Yes, your IHTG/IHCRS is a man of many talents!
