O.K. CTV, Where is the Outrage?

I have been combing the CTV site looking for any mention of outrage regarding the recent sexist remarks from Environmentalists concerning Rona Ambrose.

Details at Winnipeg Free Press and Joseph Lavoie.

If anyone sees a CTV report on this, would you please let me know?

They couldn't stop reporting on Belinda's Puppygate. I'm sure they wouldn't be biased now, would they???

obviously the big differnece here is that the remarks about ambrose weren't made in the house of commons, in front of visiting dignitaries, veterans and school children, by canada's new government's minister of foreign affairs. it's not quite the same is it?

Is she Liberal or NDP?

MSM response to Sexist Remarks...[Insert sounds of Crickets]

OMMAG said...

Yep.....the steady drip from those quarters continues...........

Tarkwell Robotico said...

the left has more fun.

I'm becoming a lefty just for the pleasure of making comments like that and passing it off as "good humour".

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Yeah, that has a certain appeal, Chucker.

Sexist remarks = humour in Leftyland.

Joanne, you and chucklehead and sweater guy are barking up the wrong tree here. Stronach has been subjected to far more vicious attacks from the right (ever catch what David Menzies regularly has to say about her on Michael Coren's gabfest?) And you know what? CTV and the evil MSM has not a word to say about that either. Jeff is correct Big difference.

Joanne (True Blue) said...

As I said, it is the entitlement of the left to decide what is humour and what is not. All hail the Nanny State!

the remarks are not surprising comming from these radical fascist left wing extremist groups. They don't like having the brakes put on their goal of controlling other peoples behavior and redistributing our wealth. Now that their climate change end of the world, point of no return hysteria is being exposed as utter nonsense, I guess a shot at a womans hair is the best these yahoo's could come up with

ctv what yah right, why would they care...

mind you I'm a fan of my hair so I won't fault Rona for doing it either lol.... at least she doesn't sleep with married hair on friday nights!

I have to agree with Joanne.

Non Sequitor: When PMac referred to BS as a dog, it did it subtly and no one has been able to prove what he said or what he meant by what he said. End of story right? No, heresay and conjecture were submitted as "types of evidence" even as the speaker of the house had said enough. On the record: Nothing was said.

Saying that a Minister of the Crown spends more time on her hair than her job is blatantly sexist, it was done in public and it is easily reproducible.

Jeff is also right, it's not quite the same.

OMMAG said...

Actually I don't care if some Libtwit had to make a comment about Ambrose not a bit......Same thing for anything derogatory about Belindabeast.

It's the selective outrage from the network talking heads that keeps coming around again and again ad nauseum......

CLASSIC LIBERAL PIFFLE AND ATTEMPTED MIS-DIRECTION !!

You guys were in power for 13 years. Much of that time you had a majority. You blew over six billion dollars on cranking a failing Kyoto Agreement UP, to 36% OVER your target (effectively a LIBERAL-DRIVEN 'de facto' gutting and reneging on the Kyoto Accord, which you now seem to regard so highly.)

Yet your Liberalese arrogant sense of entitlement sees nothing wrong with your mismanagement a la Shawinigate, HDRC, Gun Registry, Radwanski, Volpe, Fry, Iggy, etc etc, and how all that collective malfeasance might have been the true reason that Government busainess was so sorely neglected.

No. Blame the hard-working, tax-paying pissed-off voters of Canada for YOUR horrible failures, which will soon be responsible for killing many of us.

Better yet, when all else fails, and your little poisoned brains can't come up with anything worthwhile on an intellectual level, by all means, why not have all you "RE-progressives" and "RE-inclusionary" wazzirs launch into a sexist, mysognistic unnamed, cowardly "slink-by" smear campaign, against a duly elected Minister of the Crown, and you've got the tiny widdle B.B.-sized balls to do it anonymously, on an international stage, with the whole world watching.

Yep. That ought to do it.

that'll have everyone convinced that the Liberal killing of Kyoto is REALLY Minister Ambrose's fault.

uh-huh. uh-huh.

jeff & Dictus,

You are correct about one thing, there is a big difference between what was said about Belinda and what was said about Rona

Belinda: At H of C infront of a national audience

Rona: At that UN infront of world wide audience

Is this the spoof version of Joanne's Journey?

David Miller's campaign slogan:
“Same great mayor. Same great hair.”

Seems His Blondness knows how to laugh off detractors who try to make him out to be vain.

How did it become sexist to claim someone is vain?

Tarkwell Robotico said...

false outrage?

the outrage, if there is any, is at the non-outrage.

not to put words in Joanne's mouth, but I don't get "outrage" over the comment itself.

superstar blogger Sara doesn't seem outraged, she's laughing about it.

its not outrage over the comment. Like good Harpermaniacs, we can all take a punch.

its just fun for us to see how no good progressivist not raise a peep over the sexist comment.

"Wow, Joanne, where was your outrage about the dog comment?"

I think the idea is that if there was outrage about the sexist comments about Belinda there should be outrage about this too. Not that there should be outrage about either.

Incidentally, I don't think the alleged "dog" comment is actually sexist. It has nothing to do with generalizing about women or putting women down.

Exactly.

And BTW is it o.k. for the leader of the NDP to refer to the Prime Minister of Canada as chicken?

Joanne (True Blue) said...

My issue is with CTV. However, it is interesting that the only major newspaper to carry the story was the Post, as far as I could see - and it was on the front page.

To her credit, Belinda did weigh in on this with a great quip regarding the offending pamphlets:

"It's a waste of newsprint. They should have saved the trees," Ms. Stronach said after Question Period in the House of Commons.

"Any time language is used that is crude or uncalled for, it's disrespectful to the people you represent, because we should be focusing on the issues of importance to Canadians and others.

Red Tory said...

Maybe we should all cut out the phony outrage. It’s getting pretty tiresome no matter what side of the political aisle it comes from. There are plenty of things in the world to be TRULY outraged and pissed off about. The remark in question seems kind of petty and gratuitous to me but hardly malicious or sexist.

Well, Joanne, here I am watching the news on my local CTV station and what's on but the Rona and her hair non- issue. Happy?

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Happy?

Feeling a bit better, thank you, but I need to see it on the CTV site (for five days running).

;)

Danté said...

I saw a blurb on CTV about this. I wouldn't expect much of anything else.

Oh, and Red Tory? I'd agree with you completely, were it not for the outrageous amount of time spent in the media over the remarks the Liberals claim Peter McKay made.

As for these remarks, they are sexist. However, Rona's got thick enough skin to simply laugh off stupid comments like these. You won't see her crying that this has "set women back 30 years," unlike those from certain other Canadian political parties.

Tarkwell Robotico said...

Red Tory,

You're right. We should have a Myron Thompson appreciation day to celebrate a growing up of Canadian politics.

One quibble: I think it was malicious. Definitely malicious. Because she disagrees with them, she is a barbie doll.

And insofar as we are not talking about an ex-boyfriend, goaded locker-room style, into an insult about a girlfriend who dumped and betrayed him in the same day to save a government he found morally unfit to govern - the situation is totally different. Editors and publishers didn't say - go for it!

Red Tory said...

Well Dante, I’m on the record as saying the whole “dog” thing was ridiculous and overblown as well. And Chucker, as for it being malicious, that’s perhaps a matter of opinion. I would call it “snide” rather than malicious. I know, that’s kind of a fine distinction. In any case, the remark was unwarranted and should have been given a bit more thoughtful consideration.

Tarkwell Robotico said...

I'll meet you at snide with the understanding that I'm leaving something on the table!

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Extra, extra, read all about it!!!

CherniakWTF is quoted here:

"And BTW is it o.k. for the leader of the NDP to refer to the Prime Minister of Canada as chicken? Yes."

* * * For his alleged reluctance to be skewered for a LIBERAL GOVERNMENT FAILURE WITH KYOTO? Nice mis-direct there, dimbulb. You guys screw up Kyoto, blow more than six billion dollars on this failure, then poke fun at Harper, and Ambrose?? You are such losers.

"And I would add Fortier is chicken also for refusing to run in an election- guess he knows he's not wanted by the voters."

Could be the case. But call him that to his face, ace.

Could also be the case of him sticking to his initial game plan of running in the "next election." NOT next"bye-election."

Mackeenzie King - longest serving PM in Canadian history, happened to be a Liberal. Also happened to appoint a VERY large number of non-elected people to Cabinet/Senate. Most of them eventually ran for public office and won their seats. Four appointees eventually made it to Leader of Liberal Party/Liberal Prime Minister of Canada. So don't all go getting righteous on us you phony hypocrites. You don't seem to much like it when the tables get turned and your own rules get thrown back in your face.
