What's the Buzz?

Just back from a self-imposed exile into the wilderness - far away from the madding crowd of electronic gadgets of any sort. It was somewhat of a voluntary computer rehab.

My only contact with the so-called real world was the odd local newspaper and radio station, which seemed more focussed on 'Back to School' ads and country music respectively. As a result, I am feeling a bit like Rip Van Winkle trying to catch up.

I would be most appreciative if you would clue me in on the latest news, since I am so out of touch. You play the blogger, and I'll just sit back and relax.

Let me suggest that you take an opportunity to get back to nature sometime, if you haven't done it already. Take the time to go up to God's country in northern Ontario and feel the fresh lake breeze on your face. Inhale clean air and watch the sunlight glimmering on the rippling waves. Listen as they lap onto the rocks near shore. Savour the taste of a summer sausage sandwich while fishing in a boat with nothing but reeds, islands and 'Truman Show' clouds all round you.

Sit back in the evening and listen to the loons as they swoop and call out their soft mournful song. Watch the clouds turn to cotton candy blue and pink as the sun sets behind the tall bending pines in the west.

Gaze at a million stars in the ink black sky that are hidden from the urban eye. Reflect on all of God's gifts.

Appreciate nature - the ebb and flow - the joy of peaceful solitude punctuated with human companionship and an affirmation that we are all one in this incredible world.

It sounds like you had a great time away from urban life! I suppose that like any other vacation time went by too fast.

It certainly puts things in perspective when one sits back and simply observes what God has provided for us. We are all guilty of too often taking things for granted when it comes to God's gifts.

Welcome back to urban life! We look forward to being able to discuss current news.

Hmmm...the latest news...

Nothing happened but a couple of liberals getting in hot water over Hezbollah. Borys W. and some kid in BC.

The Lib convention was more infighting than policy.

Jason Kenney is accused of being a hypocrite.

Weathers getting colder.

Other than that you didn't miss much. Hope you had a great time away.

Welcome back. I was in northern Ontario as well and doing the same thing of enjoying nature. I'm pretty out of the loop as well. I'll be checking here hoping to get some updates too.

Sydney, Mulder, Spitfire and Mac, thanks so much.

Apparently a lot has been happening at Big Blue Wave

with Suzanne's anti-SOW blogburst. I am just catching up.

Dateline Friday - 2 stories.

1 - Conservative poll numbers have "plumetted" to what they where election day.

2 - Liberal party internal memorandum states that they are nowhere near ready to fihgt an election, and have 1/4 of the money the Conservatives have.

Guess which party was declared to be in trouble by the media.

But to me, this was the big story of the week - too bad other than Gerry Nicholls article in the Globe (online edition only) it was completely ignored.

Hope you had a good holiday. It takes about a week to get back in a groove, and that's when you learn just how much you needed the break (at least that's my experience).

Brian - Re #1 I'm not listening to polls anymore.

#2 - I'm not listening to "leaked" memos anymore.

Sounds like it was a good week to zone out, but your Gerry Nichols story sounds interesting. I'll be watching your blog for info.

Yeah, it takes about a week alright. First you have to assimilate the information that you missed. Then you have to decide if you give a s--t. If the answer to that is yes, then you have to formulate an opinion.

Yeah, I'll probably have a new post by next month. *Yawn*. Back to my novel.

The game is starting! Everyone starts by playing possum, with:

"oh boo hoo, our polling is down, we're the underdog, we'll have to come from behind"

and:

"oh, boo hoo, we have no money and aren't ready for an election, we're the underdog, we'll have to come from behind"

Vicki, yeah thanks. Suzanne from Big Blue Wave was telling me about that. Awesome! I'm still catching up. Glad you appreciate what you've got up there in the north. I'm still in a very mellow mood from it all. :)

L.S. - Exactly. It's all about political spin and tactics.

I hope Steve cancels all SOW funding!

He's still at election day levels of support, we need more blunders!

Welcome back!

I completely understand what you mean by getting away from it. I am back from 3 weeks in our glorious Rocky Mountains, hiking in Banff , Yoho, Kootenay and Jasper. The polluted air of Toronto after three weeks of fresh Alberta/BC air is an assault to my lungs.

I think its time I considered moving "back home" (Vancouver Island)

Glad to see you back.

Interesting reading, Brian!

Since Buzz is now embracing the Liberal Party over the NDP, what does that tell us?

Liberal Supporter, does your party have a hidden socialist agenda?

BTW, Sydney, it sounds like you are someone else who appreciates nature and getting away from the noise of the city.

Yes, we all too often get caught up in the hectic pace of things and forget what is really important.

Hi Joanne True Blue. Thank you very much for your response.

It's overwhelming when you think about what has been provided for us to use. When one really sits back to think about this beauty and how everything flows in harmony it's truly breathtaking. I think that we as human beings have the ability to appreciate this but yet still somehow get caught up in the latest buzz.

I believe that when one finally does manage to get away from the latest technology craze, it certainly helps to put things in perspective.

Sydney, that's so true. Once I got over my computer withdrawal at the lake (took a few days), it was amazing how fast my waking thoughts switched to things like 'Is it a pickerel wind today?'(never got one), or hoping I would be the first to wake up & get the coffee on and just stare at the lake in silence. I love those moments.
