It seems though that Mr. Pearson is now somewhat uncomfortable that Liz stands by her comments that condemn Prime Minister Stephen Harper's stance on climate change, comparing it to "a grievance worse than Neville Chamberlain's appeasement of the Nazis."
A spokesman for the Prime Minister is asking for the slur to be retracted, adding that May is becoming Dion's puppet; doing the dirty work for him. (Imagine a leadership debate with Liz on board!)
Mr. Pearson is now trying to distance himself with the Godwin-like remarks:
"Canadians need to get more serious about it, but the whole link to the Nazis over that went beyond the pale, for me.
Better be careful, Stephane. Your cute little sock-puppet seems to be morphing into a very scary marionette with a will of her own.

Funny that environment crazies use the comparison of Chamberlain and the Nazi’s when it suits their theme, but the real Chamberlains are the left wing media who are out to sanitize the Israel haters all the while keeping quiet about the holocaust deniers.
A very thought-provoking comment, Mary. Thank you.

Hey Joanne - You have a great blog - I read it several times a day. It amazes me that it was Harper who was called dangerous. Wackos like Suzuki, Gore, Dion and May are far more dangerous than any real or imagined climate change could ever be. Refer to a Liberal as a dog, and the world talks about it for weeks, but you refer to the PM as Hitler, well it seems that's just fine. What a crazy country Canada is quickly becoming!
Chamberlain wasn't the only one who appeased Hitler

European and North American leaders, including Canadian Prime Minister Mackenzie King supported the policy of "appeasement" of Germany. Leaders accepted Hitler's increasingly aggressive moves hoping Germany would be satiated once it had consolidated the German-speaking areas of Europe.
Then on September 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland and it was finally clear to world leaders that Hitler could not be appeased. Two days later, Britain and France declared war on Germany.
Canada at war
On September 10, 1939 Canada entered the Second World War. At this point, Prime Minister Mackenzie King's wanted to limit Canada's role in the war. More than half of the country's citizens had no ties to Britain and Canada was reassessing its colonial obligations
Just read what pgp posted about "everybody wants to kill Bush, The Great Success of Modern Liberals in Education"
Seems to me that we are seeing the result of Michael Moore's brave new world whereby all restrictions have come off, and children and teens are taught that there are no more boundaries for them to cross, no idea too depraved to voice, such as "kill the President" or anyone you don't agree with.
Instead of hearing, give peace a chance, we hear let me give you my bullet instead.
The current crop of main stream liberal children who are being educated in this way is resulting in the reaping of a crop that has been sown without conscience, without pity and totally without God's guidance system.
This is called reaping what you sow.
You have a great blog - I read it several times a day.
Thanks! I hope I don't lose you on my hiatus. Should be back by the end of the week.
What a crazy country Canada is quickly becoming!
Indeed. And your assessment of the extremist Environuts was very well stated.
Sorry I forgot to sign my name to last post.
Reaping what you sow!
Mary, thanks. Good points once again.
Many Liberals are probably asking themselves, "With friends like Elizabeth May, who needs enemies?"

This is satire, right? Like The Onion?
Kunoichi — Trust this hapless assortment of nitwits to completely miss the boat and think that was serious. The Onion indeed. Good grief. The stupidity is killing me. Make them stop!!!
Accusing others of that which you are guilty is a common trait among humans - May & the Liberals would impose harsh regulations on 30 million Canadians for an 'environmental' result so small and insignificant that it could never even be measured.
But it's not really the environment - they just want to tell their neighbours what to do.
Why would that be Anon? Please explain.
ahh!
They are coming out of the workwork now those little silent eaters of of good wood.!!!
That's what they do instead of coming up with good ideas they put down, pull down, and give hate speech a free reign instead of good sound logical argument and judgement!
Yes anon, anyone who disagrees with you is filled with hate, aren't they?
So the Prime Minister's Office now requires a retraction for something said in a Church?
Will his office be asking for retractions of "God Hates Gays" kinds of statements also made in the sanctuary of Churches?
Is nothing sacred?

LS, I'm surprised by that silly question, from someone who usually takes more care with his/her rebuttals. Unless it is someone posing as THE LS.
The salient point is not WHERE the statement was made, but rather WHO said it and WHAT was said.
Excuse me, but can I find it more than a little amusing that an ANONYMOUS poster is accusing me of being a termite for asking him/her for an explanation of what they mean by some cryptic post that makes no sense? Do you have some kind of code buried there in the “good wood” that I’m missing? Apparently you do. I’m seeking to understand what you’re getting at, and not just putting down, pulling down, and giving hate speech free reign as you claim. How can one have “good sound logical argument and judgment” when you can’t even be bothered to make it clear what your point is? And the fact that you’re ANONYMOUS means that I can’t tell whether your remark is from one person or several people or another person who forgot to sign themselves (even though they’re still anonymous). Yeah, well here’s a “good idea” for you ANONYMOUS… GET A FLICKING HANDLE. And stick with it. Better yet, make that Herculean effort to sign up for a Blogger account. I know what a killer effort that can be, but I'm confident you'll be able to master it.
Hi Joanne -- Just to let you know that "Crux-of-the-Matter" is back. Couldn't stay away with the thoughts of a federal (and of course the Ontario) elections coming. My new URL is:

Hello, Sandy.
I deleted my bookmark to your site yesterday ... I'm glad you're back, so you're bookmarked again.
Thanks, Sandy. Glad to see you're back!
Ever notice how whenever the Ghost of RT returns ...... the blog suddenly becomes ALL about HIM???
Wassamatta Red ... too boring over at your haunt?
P/S - The satirical Peoples Cube is all about the absurd reality of events it lampoons.
Will his office be asking for retractions of "God Hates Gays" kinds of statements also made in the sanctuary of Churches?
L.S. - Could you please provide proof of such a statement, and what church it was said it? Thanks.
Why do you do that moderation thing? Do you think all hell is going to break loose whenever you're not around? It's weird.
Do you think all hell is going to break loose whenever you're not around?
Yup.
Sorry, I was wrong. It was "God Hates Fags"
part 1 and part 2
L.S. - I'm having trouble understanding what people in a quasi-cult have to do with this.
Must be the pollen in the air!!
BTW _ every time I look at the title for this post I get a mental image of Howdy Doody! Sitting on Al Gore's lap...... very disturbing to me! ;)
PGP — Wassamatta Red ... too boring over at your haunt?
I see it's been a busy week over at your place. What... 2 comments this week? Phew! How do you handle all the traffic?
Another layer of protection added - The dreaded comment verification.
That should drive Red Tory around the bend!
Actually, Red, it's just to help deter the spam. I am really leaving this computer for a few days.
It's a little crazy how we become so wrapped up in politics, when we have so little control over what's happening. More on this later.
The "scientific" part of the IPCC report was released on the weekend. Very quietly with no fanfare in the hope nobody would notice. Why quietly? So there will be no ntice of how great the distortion is between the "science" and the Summary for Policy Makers. And also how great the distortion is between the science of climate change and the
"science" that makes it into the IPCC report.
Just for RT and anon: Kyoto will slow down global warming by 6%. This small difference will be detectable only after decades have passed. As for the difference Kyoto will make in everyday life, it will be well over a century before Kyoto has any real affect.
Joanne — It’s weird. I had quite a long period where I was getting spammed all the time, which doesn’t bother me as long as its going on old thread from last year or whatever, but then it started to appear on new ones, so I turned on the word verification for a while. I’ve since taken it off again, but have only had the occasional spam since. Again, on old threads. Who can figure out how these idiots work, let alone understand the point of what they do in the first place.
It would be nice if the government would crack down on spammers. I’d heard a while back they were considering that. There’s something I think just about everyone would enthusiastically support.
L.S. Nice link.
What does an American cult have to do with something said in a Canadian United church by the leader of a political party?
Please provide a Canadian link showing what was said and which politician said it.
LS - Thanks for the reference to the church that is headed by Fred Phelps. Every time I hear about it (starting with the time of Matthew Shepherd's murder because he was gay), I am constantly reminded of verses 21 - 23 of the 7th chapter of Matthew's Gospel, when Jesus is speaking near the end of the Sermon on the Mount (New King James Version):
21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22 "Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'
23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'"

With respect to the answer to your question: Will his office be asking for retractions of "God Hates Gays" kinds of statements also made in the sanctuary of Churches?
If a Canadian federal political leader said something like this in a church in Canada, I would say, most strongly, "YES THE PM SHOULD ask for a retraction!!!"
Did anyone see the TV special on climate change called "Exposed:
Climate of Fear" on Wed. night hosted by Glenn Beck of Headline
News?
It was well worth seeing as it gave the other side and other sources and climatologists a chance to voice their views instead of giving Lord Al Gore, carte blanche.
Way to go Glen!
If a Canadian federal political leader said something like this in a church in Canada, I would say, most strongly, "YES THE PM SHOULD ask for a retraction!!!"
Good distinction on the fact that she is a federal political leader. If I was going to argue this further, I would say yes, she is a federal leader but has no seat and her party has no seats. Would the same retraction be demanded of the neo nazi party (i.e. a truly fringe party). Another line of argument would be to ask if it should be ok from a non-federal political leader?
However, I feel this is not worth defending and I concede.
