This morning's
Star reports that Veteran aboriginal affairs negotiator
Jane Stewart has been replaced at the Caledonia negotiating table by
Murray Coolican, a former deputy minister of Ontario's aboriginal affairs department.
According to the report,
"Jane Stewart was paid $1,300 a day to negotiate an end to the occupation. Coolican's salary is still being negotiated..."
Do these guys come with a money-back guarantee?

How about we pay them a lump sum when they get the job done. Fee for service seems more than appropriate here...
Peter, good idea. Or at least a small stipend for expenses and a big bonus when the job's done.
Gee, I would have done it for $500 a day and got the same results.....why didn't someone call me??? :-)
I can be just as incompetent as Jane Stewart was....it's not fair!!!
raz
Raz, you do not know what you talk about!
(Previous comment to be read with a French accent).
I have to agree with Janis (forgot her last name), the spokesperson with the aboriginal side, who said something to the effect of....all of this money has been paid to Jane Stewart, and there's still no deal.
It would be interesting to see a point by point list of what was accomplished for a $1300 a day fee.
and you're right, Joanne....I do not know what I'm talking about (spoken with horrible english accent, good french accent)....but I can smell BS from Caledonia way out here in Alberta....and, no, I'm not a cattle rancher...just a regular Canadian.:-)
raz
Raz, that's right. As Caledonia goes, so goes Canada.
So just who was paying her salary?
Is there a report of her activity?
A log of daily work?
A summary of results?
Or is this just another Carte Blanche given to another liberal fraud for no other reason than to provide said fraudsters with a source of income?
If the left wing programs came with a money back guarantee we would all be rich and there wouldn't be any left wing programmes left.
Speaking of money, for those loong time readers, my 20.7% loss due to Flaherty's Halloween massacre was recovered in three months and one day. My six month return from the lowpoint is 43%. Since I just finished my income tax I ran a few simulations on what my taxes will be without the income trusts verses what they would have been with income trusts. The tax savings from the no trust option are huge.
If i takes you three or four days to play a round of golf, maybe you should have gone fishing instead.
lol! Swift - witty as usual!
Sounds like you've recovered quite nicely. Good for you. I should do an investing post sometime.
It's been one of my better six months, altough if the next six months continue on the pace of the first three days, they will be better still. OK, its probably my best six months percentage wise, certainly it is in money made. However if you go from Halloween to tax deadline day I was just a little above average, certainly no record. I have put a few new posts up about investments on my website and hopefully will get around to doing more n a semiregular basis. My idea of retirement is not to spend forty hours a week stuck in front of a monitor, and I've had to spend much more time than I had planned looking after my investments.

What's the URL Swift?
It's indepthandinvest. I went to a meeting tonight about a new provicial park up here. Take a lok at the list of provincial parks that are operating verses he ones that are not operating. Vast sstretches of the cambrian shield are now virtually off limits for the average Ontarian resident. On the map they just mark the operating parks. Are they trying to hide what's happening?
Swift, that park thing sounds interesting. Please keep up posted.
Thanks for the link.
