Is the Liberal party discriminating against women?

Iggy has been tapped as Liberal deputy leader.

Sorry, Karen!

But as Canadian Christian Conservative says, this is an Early Gift to the Tories.

Update: Prairie Wrangler: Dion to promote women, starting now..no wait... now

* * * *

From Tuesday Globe: "...By choosing Mr. Ignatieff, Mr. Dion goes against the politically correct fit, which would have been to put an anglophone woman in the role. Interestingly, Opposition Whip Karen Redman inadvertently sent an e-mail last Friday saying she had not got the deputy role and what should she ask for. The e-mail was meant for one of her children but instead ended up in the inboxes of Conservative senators."

So, she already knew on Friday that the job was filled, and was looking for something else to lobby for. That would explain the message title, What Comes Next?

Dion had an excellent opportunity to show he was not someone who just talked about equality, but actually followed thru and DID something that matched his words.

Instead he chose someone who lived in the US for the past 30 years and has a tendancy towards foot in mouth disease. Oh well. Merry Christmas to me!

Hey c'mon, that's not fair... the Libs did set up a job program for the fairer sex.

They wanted to make sure women were working in "a strong industry with lots of customers."

And poor Martha, sent out to the far corners of Canada, far, far away from the limelight of Ottawa.

Its great we can use all the ammo against Iggy and Rae and now poor Karen will be very upset. Volpe needs to be the new president of the party!

I don’t know where the heck you guys are getting your information about who Dion has appointed and to what position, but it seems like you’re really grasping at straws with this supposed discrimination against women angle.

Red, first of all, are you disputing the story about Iggy's appointment?

Second, are you not the least bit surprised that he didn't appoint a woman?

Nice try to make lemonade over here. I always enjoy the "yes we're happy you did A, and we hope that next you're going to do B".
Please continue with the reverse psychology, it helps...

Joanne -- You’re missing the point. Of course I don’t dispute his appointment of Ignatieff (I posted on it approvingly today) as it was announced and reported in the news. But that’s it. One… one person.

Tomorrow he’s going to have an announcement regarding Rae and Kennedy.

People who are suggesting that certain Libs will be doing this or that, or claiming discrimination against women and so on are full of it because they don’t know what they’re talking about. You seem to be under the misapprehension that the rubbish circulating around the Blogging Tory echo chamber is factual.

I'm just saying if Dion wants to walk the talk, he'd better start now.

No I'm not surprised at all that he picked Ignatieff.

Let's wait and see who he picks first.

Full equality forced by the state is only a form of communism. Everyone the borring same. Rights and freedoms often don't even coinside with each other. Don't be fooled by liberal-ideology. Remember the more one gets from the state the more one is dependant upon the state. Be wise go Conservative.

Awww, poor Karen. I just checked out
her blog
and her last post is about her Blackberry. Kind of ironic.
