This Time I Really Mean It

O.K. This is it. I'm going cold turkey for sure right now, or else we won't have hot turkey! (Alright, my sister is actually cooking the bird, but you get the picture).

No more political ranting for a few days. I'm not even going to discuss this.

Just going to try to preserve my sanity in the mall and grocery store one more time, then head home to get some last minute things done. Here's a tip for frantic shoppers - Bring a bottle of water and some kind of protein with you. I love those cheese string thingys. There's nothing worse than being in a huge crowd and getting dehydrated and weak. This will keep you going. A Clementine is a great energy boost too. Keep a few in the car. Oh, and don't forget the hand cleanser. Keep those germs far away!

Drop a little something in the Salvation Army kettle. That will also give you a lift.

Then go home and start counting your blessings. We tend to complain a lot (and I am probably the worse offender), but at the end of the day we have so much to be grateful for here in Canada.

Merry Christmas to all!

Hey, I said "No political ranting"! I'm still allowing myself to check in once in a while... ;)

Thanks, Alberta Girl and Brian. All the best to you and yours!

One of the columnists in the Sun was trying to get everyone to go for 48 hours over Christmas without their "crackberry". He talks about people who feel phantom vibrations (they're not wearing it but think it is vibrating with another email). Some magnanimous folks will turn it off for Christmas Day, but think they may not make it through Boxing Day.

Will you make it 48 hours without visiting the blog? Will you resist watching news channels when you should be watching "It's a Wonderful Life"?

Have a Merry Christmas, Joanne!

I won't make a political comment either. Merry Chistmas to you and the family.

No.

Actually, I have that video somewhere and thank you for reminding me about that! I also have the one about the Red Ryder BB Gun!

I just finished preparing our Christmas Eve dessert which is called Chocolate Ice Box Cake. I'm guessing that this recipe has been around for a while...

Does anyone else have other traditions that they want to share?

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you and yours, Jo!!

Thanks, Red & Mac. Same to you guys.

Red, we may have had our differences in the past but when we all didn't hear from you during that hurricane-force storm recently, I must admit I was very concerned.

This time of year I hope we can all put aside our political posturing and remember what is important in life.

So I wish everyone a Merry Christmas; even JDave and Jay who have called me some pretty uncomplimentary names in the past. But I do hope everyone finds some peace and joy this Christmas.

Hey Jo,

"It's a Wonderful Life" is a great movie, but for me, there is no better way to get into the festive swing of things than inviting Clarke, and the whole Griswold family from "Christmas Vacation", over for some dry turkey and a little flying squirrel...

Merry Christmas to you and your family Joanne,

D'oh! I just kind of pissed on "It's a Wonderful Life"... Figures.

Joanne (True Blue) said...

Red, go see "The Nativity Story" if it's still showing at your local theatre.

Guaranteed to give your tortured soul a little Christmas peace and joy.

Wishing you the best to you and yours this holiday. Cheers Joanne.

P.S. Watch out for those ghosts, they are all left wing liberals.

Merry Christmas to you too!

Jay, Merry Christmas to you and your husband, and all your extended families.

Sara, thanks. Enjoy those young ones!

"Does anyone else have other traditions that they want to share? "

I would have to say that getting together with family on Christmas Eve and going to church is one of my fondest memories. It's the one time of year when our entire family gets together for a church service.

I would have to say that in general everybody shows more generosity and courteousness this time of year, even in the over congested stores and malls.
If you find yourself slipping into a grumpy or stresful situation try smiling. The smiles that you will get in return will instantly transform your spirits.

Merry Christmas to All.
