Surely the councilors should have refused such perks, but it's worth noting that they didn't request the tickets. This whole scheme was put together by the people running the Aud (a venue owned by the city). As the people running a taxpayer funded entity, the folks running the Aud (I'm looking at you Kim Kugler) ought to know better than to have used taxpayers' money to buy these councilors a free lunch.

Not to let Zehr et al off the hook of course, they never should have accepted this "gift". But the gift never should have been offered either, and those doing the offering have at least as much to explain, imho.Lord Kitchener's Ownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08348376638620272991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20283843.post-32361242647761575692008-02-21T14:09:00.000-05:002008-02-21T14:09:00.000-05:00"LKO - That you agree with the outrage only proves..."LKO - That you agree with the outrage only proves how totally disconnected this mayor is with the real world."

That I agree???

You couldn't have thrown a smiley face there?!?! I was there with my wife and daughter, and my daughter really loved the singer, and wanted to try and meet her and get a CD signed after the show.

So afterwards we went to the backstage door ... hoping they would let at least my daughter back there. The person 'guarding' the door made it clear there was NO WAY we would get a chance to meet her.

At that moment who comes marching down the hall, but our good Major ... That made me chuckle, even despite my irritation with the situation.

It seems obvious to me that an event like that should be exempted from any policy that gives free tickets to city councillors. Both the cost and demand for these tickets should have made it a no-brainer that all tickets should have been made available to the freezing, paying public.

What a glaring conflict of interest it is that the city-owned Aud would give these tickets to the city council members.

Keep your eyes open for Carl Zehr outside the Aud on the evening of the concert scalping tickets.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20283843.post-711637019725676962008-02-20T09:48:00.000-05:002008-02-20T09:48:00.000-05:00Have you found a way to blame this on McGuinty yet...Have you found a way to blame this on McGuinty yet?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
