Personal Email from the PM!

While everyone else is talking about the budget, I am picking myself up off the floor after receiving an email from Stephen Harper. I will share the details later.

When you reply ask him why him and Flaherty have decided to fleece the poor and students in the budget...

Zac, I heard an economist say on CTV that other items more than make up for that. Will have to study it to be able to make a comment myself.

After Zac wipes his tears and puts away the NDP playbook, maybe he could ask a real question.

F.Y.I. Don't remember where I picked this up, but it should be the last revelation needed for the simplest of readers to understand one thing at least. The grotesquely macabre and partizan, cynically-opportunistic "politicking" being witnessed today, is exclusively the responsibility of the corrupt and thieving former government. Pitiful for the fiberals to try to resurrect their moribund political fortunes on the backs of the tragic deaths of four of our astounding military personnel.

Liberal Hypocrisy on Flags.

Sadly, today the Liberals have reached a new low, trying to score cheap political points with the deaths of four Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan. Liberal after Liberal, led by Bill Graham rushed to condemn the Conservative government over the lowering of the flag on the Peace Tower. Graham and the Liberals have now shown just how shockingly hypocritical they are – as the original policy change came in November, when Bill Graham himself was Minister of National Defence. Unlike the Liberals, who only believe in empty gestures for the cameras, the Conservative government will continue to support the men and women of the Canadian Forces with real actions and support

The facts:

Traditionally, the policy of the Canadian Forces was that flags would be flown at half-mast from the time of death until sunset on the day of the funeral at the location of the deployed unit; the home unit; and the Army/Navy/Air Force HQ as necessary depending on soldiers unit.

On Remembrance Day, the Peace Tower flag is lowered to honour all of Canada’s soldiers killed in the line of duty

For ten years, the Liberals essentially ignored the Canadian military and gutted it of funding. The Peace Tower flag was not lowered for any soldiers killed in the line of duty.

In 2002, the Liberals suddenly began changing Canada’s long-standing policy, but did so on an ad hoc and random basis. There was no official protocol put in place, only the Liberals deciding on a case-by-case basis to lower the Peace Tower flag, along with the flags on all federal buildings

The Liberals’ continued this policy until the fall of 2005. In November 2005, under Liberal watch, the Peace Tower flag was not lowered.

The new DND four-point policy came into effect in the fall of 2005 – under then Liberal Defence Minister (now interim Liberal Leader) Bill Graham.

The new protocol clearly states that flags will be half-masted in four different locations. All flags within the operational base, the home base of the member, and the National Defence Headquarters shall be half-masted from the day of death until sunset the day of the funeral. Also, all flags within the service (Navy, Army, or Air Force) of the member shall be half-masted from sunrise to sunset on the day of the funeral.
Why are the Liberals playing games and trying to score cheap political points over the deaths of Canadian soldiers?

Why are they criticizing a policy that was put in place under their own interim Leader?

Why didn’t they lower the flags for all Canadian soldiers killed in the line of duty?"
