According to Elton, the only Good Paparazzi is a Dead One.

Update: It has come to my attention that various net-nannies are taking issue with the language in this post, so things have been toned down a bit.

* * * * *

Nealnews and Yahoo News disclosed an interesting "expletive-laden tirade" by Sir Elton John against the press in Cannes on Saturday while presenting an award to young Canadian actor Kevin Zegers.

Apparently, Sir Elton yelled at out at photographers who were interrupting him (now close your eyes, Mom and kiddies):

"If you saw 'Transamerica' ... I'm talking ... you f---ing, f---ing photographers you should be shot, you should be all shot. Thank you."

Quite the temper tantrum, Mr. John!!

One wonders if the press shouldn't be included as a protected minority in Human Rights laws.

This ties in with Elton John's contempt for the paparazzi.

In today's online column for the Toronto Star "PM needs to show respect on the job," Susan Delacourt writes:
"And then there was another public dustup with the parliamentary press gallery, which featured Harper cancelling a news conference because journalists would not go along with PMO's insistence on deciding who asks the questions at these events."

What the press gallery and journalists in general fail to understand is that ordinary people (like myself) want to be able to hear the name of the person asking the question as well as the question itself, preferably in the original language, unfiltered by translation.

Also, instead of behaving in feeding-frenzy fashion, cutting off the person who's speaking, they might listen attentively to their colleagues so as not to repeat the same question over & over.

P.S. Joanne TB, thanks for your thumbs up.

Sorry, forgot to include this: despite the frustration Elton John expressed, it's rather extreme to say that the paparazzi should be shot - sued, maybe, but shot?!

How does the song go? "Daniel my brother ...

Gabby - Good points about the Press Gallery.

Re: E.J. Exactly!

Rather ironic coming from someone who preaches love and tolerance.

I didn't skip this one.
Jo:
It’s like reading something written a public toilet stall. It is a shock to all who enter.
Sir John is not so refined after all!

Sir Elton Hercules John is a potty mouth!

If there wasn't such an appetite for what the paparazzi provide, they would disappear. Celebs have a love-hate relationship with the cameras.

Thankfully, I'll never have this problem!

Aussie - Yes, we have no love affair with MSM here either. ;)

A "nutter". That's cute. Thanks for the down-under humour!

So Aussie, what did you think about the preceding post, where your Prime Minister was insulted by some of our Liberal M.P.'s by not attending his address to Parliament?

Joanne (True Blue) said...

"If our 'leader' were directly-elected by the electorate, I would take it as a direct snub of Australians/Australia. But since our PM is very unpopular.."

How did he become your Prime Minister? A military coup perhaps?

"Don't be rude Joanne...I thought it was no-brainer."

Right.

Anyway, it sounds like the same process as ours. Sometimes we have a difficult decision trying to weigh the choice of a party with it's leader, and the local constituency candidate.

Sorry if my question sounded "rude".
