Time for a Change!!!

In case you were worried by the title, no I'm not wanting to bring down the current government. Au contraire. I want to make it perfectly clear that I am not the Liberal Joanne that has been commenting on fellow Conservatives' blogs.

Apparently, this is causing some problems. Both Molarmauler and ChuckerCanuck have noted the confusion.

So in the interest of a move toward more transparent blogging, I have officially changed my display name to "Joanne (True Blue)". I think the reasons are obvious.

LOL, J(TB) :D

It was almost a party game for me. I'd see the name Joanne ahead of a comment and I'd tell myself "I can name that Joanne in... 3 words".

Molarmauler - Too funny!!

Sorry to spoil your game. ;)

I always knew you were True Blue Joanne.

BTW: I received a response from CTV regarding the YWCA report. All they did was send me the YWCA report, which shows the results taken from (4)four hand picked communities, I wasn't aware that the majority of Canadians lived in these four communities. I have sent them a reply to their reply asking this very question.

Platty - Awesome! I wonder how you rate more than a form letter though. What address did you use? Can't wait to hear what they have to say in reply to your comment. This is great!

We have a lot of people starting to jump on the bandwagon here, and I'm hoping the effect is that the media will start reporting truthfully and responsibly, instead of editorializing! There is a huge difference.

Derik, I sense that you are actually asking a serious question here. If so, I will ponder it and give you a thoughtful reply.

Joanne,

I sent it to askus@ctv.ca

They sent a second reply that is just a form letter, guess they didn't have an answer. If they send anything further I will pass it on to you.

Platty, thanks for your efforts here. I sent a reply to my form letter asking that a real person respond. Guess what I got back? Yup, a copy of the original form letter. Great customer relations! CTV is starting to make CBC look good, and that is NOT any easy thing for a Conservative to say!

Don't worry. I am tenacious. I have a plan..

Derik, I think your question deserves a separate post, but first of all, I'd love to know where in Canada you reside? That would help me gain a better political perspective of where you're coming from. Also, what are those experiences that changed your views? Sound interesting.

If I were to give a general answer to your question, I would say I prefer the Conservative party because it impresses me as one that works for the common good of Canadian society.

The Grits on the other hand, tend to work for the common good of the Liberal party.

That was a generalization of course, and there are always exceptions on both sides. I don't consider the Dippers worth discussing here, because they never have to put their money where their collective mouths are, except of course if Canada totally loses its mind. On the other hand, with Bob Rae considering the Liberal leadership bid, that could happen.

Betcha you're sorry you asked now.

Derik, I will be sure to drop by. Cheers.

Your new name reminds me of a quote of Stephen Harper's that I read in the Post this morning. I'm sure he's not the first one who said it but in reference to people with the last name Harper who live in New Brunswick, he said jokingly that they "...will always be reminded that heaven is blue and hell is red."

Perhaps you are going to have a full separate post and some point in reference to Derik's question, but I will add my 2 cents here anyway. The reason that I am attracted to the Conservative way of thinking is that it tends to empower the individual and to give people control over their own destinies, rather than encouraging people to feel entitled to hand-outs and expecting others to take care of them. Giving each person a sense of responsibility makes one feel self-respect and also contributes positively to the overall economy and society.

Steph, that was very eloquent. Have you ever considered starting your own blog? I hope Derik reads your comment.

Great discussion, Derik. I hope everyone goes to your site to pick up on the debate.

Start my own blog? Not going to happen. It's all I can do to keep up with your blog and to read the Post once in a while! ;-)

I replied to Derik on his blog.
